Repairing Two Useless Skills

I have been working this very Idea for months.

To combine the F.o.F. missiles and the Defender missiles into one system that uses both.

To be able to target incoming missiles, attacking drones and bombs like the Defender system with the F.o.F. system.

Defender ammo, based on size.

Each level of training would allow for a larger ammo and launcher. This would force the player to get level 5 for all ammo at any size.

Refund players skill points for Defender Missile skills and use F.o.F. skill training.

The drawback to this idea is to turn it off BEFORE someone targets you for Logistics support.

Creative suggestions needed, Thank you.

the main problem with defenders is that they only defend you. If you could, say, target someone else and have the missiles defend them, they'd be a lot better.

FoF aren't great, but I wouldn't call them broken either, they're fin against NPC swarms last I checked (admittedly, a while ago).

CCP would never modify those skills - I wonder how they didnt invent skills just for installing weapons ....
Oh well, maybe they will, inovation is limitless.

F.O.F. Missiles:

"It's been said that these missiles can and will target either friend or foe (hence the name). If you are able to target what you want to shoot however, it will fire at that first."

That taken into consideration, F.O.F, missiles are the least effective of all missiles.

They will target what you want them to target 40% of the time or less, will make CONCORD eliminate you if used in high sec, and are almost completely ineffective in fleet fights.

It is true they will target what you are targeting (if it is in range) , but if you are targeting the ship, you should be using regular missiles.

I think the skills and items should be deleted from the game and never to be spoken of again.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

FoF missiles go for the nearest aggressing entity, be it NPC, PC or drones, irregardless of you being able to target anything.

the issue is that if the enemy jamming you puts a drone swarm on you, the FoF missiles will go for them instead the guy that is jamming you.

FOFs aren't useless. Picking your nose when you're jammed or have your lock range damped to 500m is useless.

They still suck, of course.

Could probably use an AI upgrade, though. Their reduced statistics should be penalty enough.

Simple idea to fix defenders in my opinion.

20% reduced effectivness of defenders on your own missiles per level.

Then, at level V, defenders wouldnt even effect my missiles, & i could carry on spamming Cool

defenders targeting any hostile missiles would be so awesome...

Defender missiles should target any missiles fired from someone not in fleet or with good standing. Thus you could have a rack of assault missile launcher systems on a caracal or two in a gang to provide ADA/interdiction. Other option would be to get a defender missile launcher system that specializes in their use to achieve the above mentioned effect.

F.O.F. Missiles are fine. If they were adjusted should make a customizable engagement tree to prioritize their engagements. e.g. Make four drop down menus labeled 1-4, 1 being the highest priority, and list something like the following: Proximity, drones, ECM, propulsion jamming, Neuting, Class (Largest to smallest), Class (smallest to largest), Speed (fastest to slowest), speed (slowest to fastest), Signature radius (largest to smallest), Signature Radius (smallest to largest), T1, T2, T3.

Could apply the prioritization to defenders as well.

Just an idea.

Since when do defender missiles attack your own missiles? I'm thinking never.
