One of my adventures in deep sov null sec, I had a rat drop a ashimu bpc. At first I was like cashinga, sell fat lootz.

But then.

I started looking at what the ship can actually do. Interestingly 100 bonus to lazor turret output, doubling from three lazors to six. Not too shabby.
Amar cruiser 15% to energy vamp and energy neuts per level.
Minmatar cruiser skill bonus is 10% to the velocity of statis web. Minnie cruiser I have it at 5, so does this translate to actual numbers.

My skill for this ship are:
Amar cruiser 4, minmatar cuiser 5,

Should this ship be plated or resisted? Im inclining more towards resisted instead of plated. I lack laser skills so it would be t1 for me in that department.

Is this a good ship for pvp?

this is a great ship, it can suck people dry, and give them some nice laser surgery. Fantastic ship overall, if a bit lacking in tank.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Notes:
- With Minmitar Cruiser 5 it can reduce the velocity of the target ship by 90%
- With Amarr Cruiser 5 it can neutralize 945 capacitor from your target... that means you can cap out most cruisers in one cycle and most battlecruisers in two.
- Yes, I know the DPS on my fit here is anemic. You can alter things to squeeze out a bit more DPS... but remember than this is a "shiny ship" (you are likely to be shot at FIRST) and that your primary role is not to deal damage but to make sure people cannot escape.
- If you REALLY want to be cheap, T2 equipment is mostly fine. But the Fed Navy Web is a MUST. Having that extra 4km of webbing distance allows you to pin down targets that stay just beyond normal web-scram range and utilize the Ashimmu's strengths much better.

From my EFTing, it has difficulty doing good DPS while remaining somewhat tanky and using all bonuses.

Honestly, the best faction cruiser is the Cynabal, so if you want to invest a nice cruiser, that's your best bet.

I love my Ashimmu,

Really its a beast as a tackler on anything. Like others have said soloing other cap dependent ships (Amarr) it is insanely useful with the neuting, but in general I woudln't recommend trying to solo things bigger than a cruiser as it has tank limitations. However if you are trying to grab some AF's/Dessies or other cruisers you can comfortably give it a try and have the neuting ability to break their point if you are not seeing favorable results from the fight.

Just remember people will go to stupid lengths to kill a faction ship worth 100m+ so be ready for a blob.

Ashimmu looks cool but it's pretty meh.
Not worth forking out the extra ISK for over a zealot or pilgrim ect.

Ashimmu is a really fun ship, ignore the turrets generally as they provide trivial dps in a gang situation. It is possibly to fly solo but its probably not worth it for the attention it gets especially as it wont be killing anything particularly fast.

There are 2 ways to go with the ship in my opinion.

Focus on webs, for capital assistance and such. Fit 2 X 1600 plates and as much tank as possible, 2 FN webs and the rest doesn't really matter. You provide your gang with 99% web and the resilience to stay alive. Can achieve >120k eHP in gang.

Focus on resist. If you are flying with guardians 4 X specific hardeners and a plate, should have the eHP to last till reps land and enough resist to soak damage. Probably a greater emphasis on neuting with this fit as well as the FN web. You run down critical hostile ships and wreak havoc with hostile capacitor.


Remote sensor boosted and loki linked not much makes it back to gate with an ashimmu on field.

The Curse does this better as it also gets a range bonus. Helps with capping those Falcons.

For those who are saying dont fork out the extra isk, please read my initial post. I acquired a bpc from a battlship wreck from a scanned combat site (cant remember the proper name)

Good post good reads.

I can either invest 11M to get the minerals to build, or contract the bpc and cash in, or I can build and sell it at a 1~2M isk loss.

Rule #1 in isk, just because you found/farmed it doesnt make it free. You can still convert it to a nice amount of isk.

Absolutely you are correct.

Thats the reason behind this thread, I was either going to build and fly it in pvp or just sell off the bpc.

High slots : 6 neutras, faction if you have the isks
Med slots : mwd, cap booster, 2 webs (faction)
Low slots : 1600, dc, EANM, 2 hardeners
Rigs : egress/ancillary/trimark
Drones : who cares

Ashimmu wouldn't make much sense with a range bonus on the neuts unless they were to change the web bonus too though. More interesting how it is imo ;)
