Train for combat ships. Seriously, there's no specific requirements for a combat ship or ship that can make ISK in WHs (though Gallente are typically a bad choice for WHs because Sleepers like to eat drones).

Here's a counter question for you, how would you like to fight? All races are viable in PvP and WHs, it's jus a matter of how you prefer to do it.

Also, you don't have to start a new char, you can always just train combat skills even if you have mining skills (my char started off a miner but, as time went on, I went more and more into the combat side of things). The only reasons to start a new char are to keep the clone cost down due to less SP on the char overall, to keep the combat and industry sides of what you're doing separate, or if you just don't like your char's name. Otherwise it's just as easy (or easier) to stick with the same char and just add on more skills.

Amarr weapons are useful in wormholes because of laser crystals vs ammo. Ammo - runs out, t1 crystals don't Big smile

Get your core skills trained V before you start going after Battlecruiser and Battleship sized vesels.

PVP in a wh can be done in tons of ships so dont assume it has to be something big

Fast ships like interceptors Assault ships and quick hacs like the vagabond are fun too. If you plan on living in a wh know its bonuses and penalties because they do vary wildly some favor shield others armor etc.

Never fly what you cant afford to loose.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Second on basically everything in the thread, but a second with extra enthusiasm on the "go with Amarr" suggestion. I'm almost entirely Gallente (I maxed gallente frig/cruiser before any other race) and I still grabbed an Amarr BC for w-space even before I had BC V or t2 medium lasers. Not worrying about ammo is rather important where sleepers are concerned.

Plus, an omni-tanked stable Harbinger has a mid-slot for your codebreaker/analyzer and a utility high slot for your probe bay (solo) or salvager (working with a buddy) and it's not all that different from a standard PvP setup if you're jumped by someone.

Obviously you have a lot more viable choices if you're running in a larger fleet. Or you could be lazy and just train into a T3 BC. All the T3s are quite viable, though if you're doing a lot of PvP picking the one that uses your preferred PvP weapon is recommended.

Whats said above, but also...you don't need to start over at all, only unless you want to hide your miner skills of course (and why though? That'll just mean a lot of training time wasted)...or clone costs i guess. Keep it all on the same character & you can vary things up a bit Smile

You want to live in a wormhole and do PVE and also kill people? You need to fly a Tengu.

I mean you don't need to but you should since they are extremely effective ships for both PVP and PVE and are absolutely fantastic for running sleeper sites, they are quick to train into too.

Get Evemon and Eve Fitting Tool

Get your API

Decide what you want to do in eve. Pve, Pvp, mix n match etc.

Think about isk; how are you going to make it, how much time will that take, how much (and patience for grind) time do you have?

Formulate a skill plan that lets you get stuck in, if starting with a new character train some core skills to 5 (Engineering, Electronics, Mechanics) and some support skills to 3-4. This will take the first month or so. Sorry!

Then start looking at fits for the things you do, or find yourself doing. Do you need to do pve and pvp on the same character? No is my advice. Do you need to focus each character on each account? Yes is my advise.

The rest is very complicated and time consuming (both pretend time and real time) and will require you to really try to anticipate what you plan to do in eve six months from now - which I appreciate is pretty damn hard to do considering you have no idea how this game works, or whether you will even be here.

Good luck!

:)
