well....I am going away for an extended period and need to get a laptop that can handle my playing eve online.

I am looking to spend no more than 700 bucks. anyone know anything I should look at or would i need to spend more than $700 for something adequate???

I use something with a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz and a Nvidia 320m with 8gb ram(less ram should be ok) and I can run EVE with pretty decend graphic settings.

I think any laptop with a i3+ and a decent graphic card will do the job. You should not get any trouble to find that with your budget.

I'm using a laptop for EVE from time to time (when not having acces to the desktop)

Specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 2.0GHz
RAM: 3GB
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series

This setup let's me play EVE with 1 client with decent quality or even dualbox 2 clients with lower settings while running TS3 and browser on the background.

The one thing I have to do is disable the captain's quarters and stay in hangar mode.

I got an Asus with a Radeon HD 6720G2 graphics card with 4GB ram and it runs this game great. No problems with having all the graphics setting on high. Got it on Ebay for around $470.00 bucks. I expanded the ram from 4GB to 8GB.

I used to think the same thing.

Then I realized I was never taking my lap top with me to leave the house.

Which meant I really needed a Desktop.

I've cooked two high-end gaming grade laptops, including one where the video card was cooked and replaced once under warranty.

I don't bother with gaming laptops anymore.

Are there any laptops in the $350 range that would handle EVE? Or do you HAVE to pass the $500-600 range before you can run it?

Confirming that ASUS holds its own.
I don't remember the specs exactly or exactly what model it is, but I got mine for about $700, it runs EVE on decent graphics quite well. And that was almost two years ago, so I imagine you could get the same setup for cheaper, or an even better laptop for the same price. I'll have to check up on the exact specs when I get home.
