Why would CCP ban them? And why would anyone else want them banned? I used to think the Goons were all douchebags, but I've been keeping an eye on their antics during my 9 month EVE break, and pretty much the only reason I came back was because they have made things interesting again.

It is a simple question: have other MMO's banned goonswarm?

do you raise passive aggressive questions like this in real life situations to influence people?

Look, just come out and SAY IT ALREADY. BAN ALL THE GOONS. THEY ARE EVIL

Come on, you can be more subtle than to just outright talk about banning.

Fine ban all the goons not because they are ebil people but I want their tears and anyone else for that matter, need more for production.

Send me 100mil and you have my word that you can enter lv4 missions without worry of angel cartel and all the other evil factions shooting at your so you can get to your damsel in distress without fear. If they happen to not check the list and accidently pop you I reinburse you free of charge. Limited time offer, by april 30th the price goes up to 300mil so get your lv4 insurance now. Roll

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

I think you quoted the wrong comment because I like and support the goons, you've even ganked this indy toon of mine twice - I had a hell of a fun time before/during/after that experience. We tried to snatch the ice under your watchful eyes and we got smacked.. it was fun adventure for all of us. I would have gotten bored and quit this game if it wasnt for what you guys are doing.

My buddy plays wow, he talks about how everyone hits end game and loses interest. Without the forces that exist in this game, we'd have the exact same problem. Thank you goons, continue.

Now what I was getting at, is this post either

a) harmless - the OP sounds like a goofball waxing about every little question that pops in his head. He doesnt really care about this question he just found something to talk about. Like a kid asking goofy questions in class

b) insidious - hes pulling the old FOX trick where you make a wild as hell statements but because its framed it as a question and it still gets out in front of peoples eyes and in their minds.

regardless, a complete waste of time and people trying to take out you goons threaten this fun game I'm playing

ONLY THE HARD.  ONLY THE STRONG.

Star Trek Online, they were a fleet named Starfleet Dental. They turned the game from a mainly PVE game to a nonconsentual PVP game and they were so large a % of the population at te time the GMs refused to ban them. Eventually people started quitting and citing them as the reason so they editted the game so that the power they used to commit the now-exploit didnt have an effect on the part of the game as it did before.

Its funny how once what they were doing became impossible to do they all dissapeared (so did all the other players tho guess thats why they went free to play)
And thats more a comical story than a QQ cause we're talking about a game that at the time didnt even HAVE a penalty for dying

they are all douchebags its just theyre douchebags that provide free PR for CCP so they wont ban them ever.

Then again Im pretty sure if a random player of EVE became aware of a player who was suicidal IRL and instead of trying to help them using your corp and influences in game to try and get them to kill themselves and it was brought to light to CCP youd get a permaban and not a 30 day ban.

Than again CCP had more of a right to disband/ban the Band of Brothers alliance given they actually had devs/GMs cheating in their own game to help them
Gms/devs they never fired when caught yet you still cant say "kugutsumen" on the forums what 6 YEARS later?

Yeah but wouldnt the Goons WANT that given their stated goals?

a) Given that this rumor pops up every three threads about Goons I think itd be great to put it to bed
b) eh I wouldnt put Fox News ansd insidious in the same sentance, theyre more cominal. Like Glenn Beck. Well HE's scary but not in message other than because ppl actually BELIEVE his message

It would not destroy EVE. It simply would matter only little. One comes, one goes.

Which most ppl claim would then destroy EVE

Um it's stupid to ban anyone that is not violating the EULA. Learn to adapt to the situation; if you dont and dont care enough about your current state of affairs then by all means continue to be predictable; continue to get shot like fish in a barrel. COntinue to whine to everyone about how youre being "unfairly" targeted by teh goons or anyone else out for a good ganking time.

Yep I am a miner. The draw of this game for me is this very sandbox dynamic. Youre not safe and cuddly anywhere, you have to keep on hour toes. It never gets boring!

Everybody spawn camps newbies on AOC. Spawn points are like gates in Eve, it's the only place you'll ever find action.

Goons are just having fun by doing what they want, the game is meant to be played this way. Nothing they are doing is truly altering the game for me personally in anyway so I take it as amusing and forget about it. Most of their events like the Burn Jita thing are nothing more than funny forum draws. The only impact it's had on me or anyone I play with is getting us to think of taking our inty's over there and popping some pods for laughs, but other than that we treat em like that lil kid down the street and ignore em for the most part.

If they got banned for there antics I wouldn't care, it most certainly wouldn't "ruin" eve since what happens to the goons or any other alliance outside of my own matters little to me. I would bet most others would move on without a second thought as well.

You may want to check some of your "facts" my friend. Namely the one I have helpfully highlighted for you. The gentleman in question came forward and admitted that he had lied about the whole thing, that his message to Mittens was nothing more than a ploy to make him feel guilty. It seems that Mittens gave the guy a whole load of isk by way of an apology, and the guy also turned up in the EVE Radio channel admitting to what he had done. He made 10 billion isk from the whole thing, and found it all highly amusing.

So now you know. Mittens and the Goons are not the douchebags you and others make them out to be, they just aren't your kind of people. Next time you want to go around making spurious accusations, save yourself the embarrassment of being horribly wrong and keep your mouth closed, and your hands off the keyboard.

To quote a character from a questionable Wil Smith movie, I suspect you simply don't like their kind. That does not mean they are doing anything wrong.

Pfft, no.

Goons are just one alliance in a big game. They make a lot of noise, of course, but the game would go on much the same as now without them. I can appreciate that goons want to play the game like they want to, just like I play EVE like I want to. So what if their antics rub someone the wrong way? It is an MMO, if you do not like goons, then go on a crusade against them.

course that's why it's a small niche

If anything needs to be burned along with Jita, SL is it.
