I started multi-boxing when I the corp I was in dissolved. I had been working in logistics and doing PVE but wanted to get in to other areas of the game. At one point I had three accounts running, and a couple starting friends that joined in with me we had fun doing small fleet ops.

Then came Incarna and the huge performance hit. Unhappy with the game's course I cancelled all three account (voting with wallet). Once it was clear that CCP was changing course I came back, but only one PC was up at the time that was worth using, so I just went back to my main account.

Recently I brought all three accounts back online, but the tedium of running them all as well as the nurfbat to PVE and salvage has me going back to a single account. For me EVE is a hobby, multi-boxing made it a job.

Am I getting this right? If the monotonous sections of EVE were "fixed," CCP would LOSE money...?

Multi accounts become a bit of a necessity to introduce variety. If you intend to be good at one thing (say PvP) that excludes you from training up things such as industry for a long long time while you max your PvP skills.

There would be a lot less alts if you could simultaneously train multiple characters on the same account.

Potentially, then again the character might just get sold to people that don't want to train up and used that way.

You say "fixed" like something's "broken".

I don't log enough hours to entertain the idea of multiple accounts, but I've always been curious, especially since it's encouraged by the game.

For the multiboxers:

What made you finally decide to make the jump?

Is the game actually more fun this way, or would you rather just have a few roommates that play?

For those who multibox to PLEX their subs, is there a "sweet spot" of accounts that is enough to raise productivity without requiring an overwhelming amount of effort to PLEX them all?

Any fun stories you want to share about managing multiple accounts? Unfortunate circumstances? Funny trolls?

Wait is this about actually multiboxing (Ive always thought that was where you have programs and such that slave multiple computers under the direction on one player that you can play multiple accounts at once rather than the "open two clients and alt tab between them" type most ppl I know in real life do.

I do the "open two clients and alt tab/ play windowed" and I started doing it when I started mining and salvaging. Not having a ship that has actual hauling capacity and mining capacity and I like to mine in systems where there arent stations cause theres usually less people mining in them to compete with.

Yeah when EVE becomes a job not a hobby is when I take vacations too.

apart from scouting never had much need for using more than one account at a time Bear im not very good at multi tasking so any multi box combat resulted in one dead alt.
