I've been playing EVE for almost 4 month now and I have to say I am quite disappointed.

I had great plans of being a miner and producer mining ore, refining it, manufacturing goods and selling them for profit. I actually thought that miner and producer is a honorable profession in EVE being the base of the economy.

But what do you get? Scamming, griefing, ganking and bullying defenseless players seem to be the right way to go in this game.

So you shouldn't be surprised at all that someone who got banned for his antisocial behaviour in RL is planning to terrorise players to celebrate his glorious return and CCP is doing nothing about it.

I don't get any joy from being ganked in my 300 mil. Hulk by 3 or 4 cowards in their 5 mil. destroyers without any means to defend myself.

I don't get any joy from my cans being fliped and all I can do is sit and watch.

I don't get any joy from losing my industrial and cargo just because someone else is bored.

And I don't get any joy from being forced into fights I don't want to fight especially if there is no way I can win.

So what can I as a single person do about all this? I'm afraid the only thing is to quit playing.
And that's exactly what I am going to do.

So long pilots
and fly safe, even if it's not in the EVE universe

This exchange between Ore Addicted, representing the millions of people who have tried Eve and decided the griefing and gangling are not fun, and Sigurd Sig Hansen, representing the couple hundred thousand people that find griefing and gangking to be fun, is indicative of the primary issue preventing CCP from being more competitive.

There are far more Ore Addicteds in CCP's market than Sigurd Sig Hansens, so despite the fact they have produced an excellent product unless CCP changes their business strategy to focus on the market as a whole, as opposed to the subset of players Eve currently appeals to, Eve will continue to be relegated to the bottom rung of MMOs. I'm sure CCP could be much more competitive with the market leaders if they could keep more players like Ore Addicted from quitting out of frustration.

To bring this back to the OP, the players cannot "Save Jita". Only CCP has the ability to step in and correct the situation. As I understand it Jita is clogged up and the gates are closed. This is another example of the consequences of CCP's choice of player base. As long as CCP panders to griefers like the Goonies they will continue to ruin Eve for people like Ore Addicted and lose subscriptions. And while people like Sigurd Sig Hansen doesn't care about CCP losing subscriptions I find it difficult to believe Hilmar Pétursson shares his sentiment.

You got the refundable part right but it is a high risk time so the bill is about 1.5 billion. "But that's ridiculous," oh I know when I had to pay it was only 500mill.

I would argue that if they catered to the masses in the way you're suggesting that EVE would lose its uniqueness and would have to fall back on it's poorly made PvE content and buggy game play. Eve is so great specifically *because* it caters to guys like Sigurd Sig Hansens.

Your arguement reads a bit like arguing that Hugo Boss should emulate Walmart because Walmart makes more money and sells more clothes.

They aren't honorable like the Tuskers, so I would be skeptical.

Well let's not say Walmart - there's limit to how far down you can go without becoming a blight to human civilization. I'm thinking more like Maison Blanche to Macy's.

I'm not sure I agree that EVE necessarily has to lose its uniqueness (which I don't want to happen either). There are thousands of systems where PvP is both permitted and fun. Why would those system be affected by limiting griefers' ability to cause problems for people in highsec?

There are what? 3,000 solar systems? I think we can set aside a few for people who don't like griefing without Eve being destroyed.

God don't remind me. I remember some slosh op where we flew through a wormhole to find these role players who where out in the middle of the boondocks in the dronelands. They had been found around 2 days earlier by surprise and ended up being killed repeatedly. Apparently they constructed a graveyard to their deaths using jets cans outside their station. We promptly desecrated that. There were like 5-7 jumps away from any people.

Imagine how many people are out there doing this. Just out in some irrelevant system isolated from everybody. It still sort of freaks me out.

I think i see where your argument is flawed. You are under the assumption that eve is somehow a consensual pvp game or a game in which pvp is only supposed to happen in low sec and null sec. EvE is 100% a PvP game in all area's and was designed to be that way. CCP catered to the masses when they buffed CONCORD and CONCORD response times again and again and again. Each time the combat pvper's adapt. Every time the combatants adapt the noncombatants whine.

This game is pvp. It was created around pvp with pvp in mind for all aspects of the game. Just be happy these arent the castor days or grief would be a whole new level. Cruise kessies for max damage on any target? Torp caracals? My personal favorite anaconda mines named veldspar. that got me lots of kills.

Well I participated with my alt some more this weekend and one thing I was very disappointed with was the inability to be able to lock and shoot a character that went gcc before concord killed them. Ffs concord cheated the save Jita forces out of thousands of killmails. If I got anything from this weekends event it was that goons wasted alot of thrashers on noob ships, and while they did get a really nice freighter kill early on it does t look like it was worth all the losses. Concord needs to be rebuffed to allow the player base to contribute in events such as these. The goons got to have all of the fun as the aggressor but unless you were in a Corp with an active war dec, defenders did not get many kill mails as the concord acted much too quickly to destroy the aggressor.

Again a perfect one-sided POV-post - not only concord got buffed, people like you allways forget the introduction of new ships like T3s, the massive buff to destroyers ...

It#s easy to adapt when you constantly get new tools to do so ...
