I made a dumb mistake and now I'm being shot at in high sec by concord police....how do I raise my sec status?

Thanks.

Shoot at NPC pirates.
You get a sec status boost based on the highest bounty pirate you kill every 20 minutes.

More accurately, its the higest boost per 20 minutes per system per pirate faction.

EG you kill 2 Guristas battleships and a cruiser in System A within 20 minutes, you get the sec boost from one BS

You kill 1 BS in System A and 1 BS in system B, you get the sec boost from BSs

So the idea is to kill a high bounty rat in a system, then move to another, repeat

There is a fine line between a post and a signature.

I can't even leave my base. The NPC"s scramble my warp the instant I un dock...

Due to my dumb mistake, I've trapped myself.

Don't worry, more than likely your sec status isn't -5 or worse. What this means is that you are at least welcome in a 0.5 system, so you can chill in a 0.5 and rat your way up (0.5 is still highsec). If you have trouble leaving station, just load up warp stabs on your ship and run away. Just remember, NWA had it right, **** tha police! :)

If the stabs don't work, don't forget that the police and concord don't screw with pods.

Players might though.

Your sec-status is only -3.5 so you can operate in 0.5 and 0.6 systems freely.

To get to such systems, just leave your ship and warp your pod to a more suitable location. NPCs don't bother pods and you're not low enough to be a target to players (you need to be -5.0 for that).
To move your stuff, set up some courier contracts with a decent payout and people will move it for you (note: set up the contracts into "bite-sized" amounts of 30k or less and remember to set the collateral on your stuff according to the market value).

Pods don't count if your are shoot on sight in empire.

Undock in you pod and NO npc will every shoot you.

Also you can fit and run the NPC police in a cheap frigate (outrunning NPC police is allowed, outrunning CONCORD is an exploit and will be punished, know the difference).

I have heard this exact same thing about a dozen times this weekend. I wonder why?

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. …"

Fortunately we've helped Nate move down to a .6, I've given him a Fast Talk skill book and shown him a couple of low sec systems he can dip into for some extra ratting fun. It doesn't help with the overview showing GCC pods as red when they aren't open to being shot without sec status loss.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

Ya, I agree... although the pop-up warning prevented me from doing anything CONCORD had an issue with.

Still, I hope CCP reverts that change.

I hope they don't. If you're not reading "in your face" warnings then you won't last long anyways. I like that there are some simple things to weed out the bads quickly.

Just imagine the threads that will be here in a month when a bunch of guys get together for a "suspect flag party"....this dude could have read anything on security status to know what was happening but instead we got a guy who:

#1 Doesn't read warnings and just clicks things
#2 Doesn't try to find some of the easiest to find information in the game ON HIS OWN
#3 Posts so someone can hold his hand to fix his boo boo
#4 His 1st attempt at killing something was a flashy pod in empire

I do agree with Homo Jesus, mainly cause whole GCC mechanics are easily found using Google and there is the warning. Do your research is part of EVE, EVE isn't a handheld game where all stuff is ready served to the players.

Though, expect these kind of situations in the New Player part of the forums as they are for New Players, meaning players who don't yet understand / know all the mechanics in game

Googling "Eve online GCC mechanics" brings up this, which says nothing at all about pods, and this, which includes the following (my bolding):

To be Aggression Flagged a.k.a "flashy red" (as of the current build, criminal flags are typically solid red) in Eve means you have done something "bad" (see list above). Flags usually allows a set group of people to fire upon you without CONCORD intervention. This manifests in several ways:

If you are the "bad" guy you will have an aggression timer in the top left of your display. If this is red you are globally flagged, and may be shot by anyone. If it is yellow, you are only flagged to a particular set of corps/factions. You can hover your mouse over the countdown timer to see who you have aggrieved, and for how long they will see you as "flashy red" (this shows you can have multiple timers going at the same time)
Those in local will see you flagged by a icon of a white skull on a red square (just as you may see green or blue icons for friendlies)

It also links to multiple pages of heated Eve forum debate on whether flashy pods are a bug or a feature, and forcing players to read through that crap before they decide whether or not to shoot something is just sadistic.

Intuitive game design =/= hand holding.

Because someone suggested game mechanic changes to make things "not so confusing" when there is a pop-up box that screams "Don't do this"? I know it's just a small stupid thing but CCP is already sliding down a slippery slope with empire and pvp in general in favor of the feeble minded so I figured I'd speak up as a somewhat newish player.

Why post it here?.....I wonder how many people looked this guy up as a mark because he is being clueless? Someone at least pretending to be nice snatched him up for some reason before I could send him an offer to move his stuff to null where he could rent a system to ss grind for a low down payment.

Edit: Peri you don't have to google anything....read the bigass pop-up box when you attempt to do something that will get you concorded.

And yet when you try to engate your guns on a GCC Pod a big pop up will show saying: Do you want to do this, you are comitting a criminal offense and will be shot down by CONCORD and loose your sec status.

You click Yes (if you actually read the pop up or not, that's your choice) and continue, it's your decision to get the sec hit, but you were warned.

Tau is suggesting reverting back to a game mechanic that has been in place for the past three years, and got changed with the latest update. Nobody suggested introducing new mechanics to make things "less confusing".

The pair of you claimed that "some of the easiest to find information in the game" is "easily found using Google". It isn't.

Read what people say instead of responding to the argument you want to have. It only exists in your head.

Nate.

This is a hard lesson learned for you. But thats eve.

Those who do there homework ahead of time are rewarded.

Always asume that if you can shoot a player, there could always be consequences, from npcs in empire, and alway from other players any where.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.
