Nearly 8000 ships have died in Jita in the last 24 hrs (honestly kudos to goons)

But seriously its a highsec system, the majority are outside of the war dec system.

Your game mechanics as they stand are being proved, once again by your players, to be inadequate.
There appears to be no reason for them to stop until there bored.
Is it the intention for the large alliances to be able to avoid serious concord disruption by just being big enough that any effect to a single pilot is negligible?

Concord is controlled by an AI, if it were a real intelligence behind them this couldn't happen, thus your game mechanics are failing. Hypothetically speaking if this were happening and real people were involved concord would outlaw Goons etc. throughout highsec or some form of Martial law would be enforced.

This is of course going to bring out every goon and there fanboi's out in droves, but we are playing a game, a game with rules for highsec/lowsec/nullsec. Right now the effectiveness of said game rules in highsec are unquestionably broken.

Again big up to goonies, if theres a fault we are assured they will bring it to the fore.

Game mechanics are working as intended.

Lead game designer Kristoffer Touborg insisted that player-driven events such as Burn Jita are what make Eve Online stand out from other games, and that it's CCP's duty to sit back and watch.

What is so important about Jita that you are worried so much ?
It's just one system. There are plenty around.

What Concord like other entities Im sure in the game have limits (for server reliability and whatnot).

Also game mechanics working as intended. You can't expect to drive through a riot, why would you be able to undock a freighter under the same circumstances?

Also not sure I agree with alot of the goons actions....but I find myself agreeing with them more and more through the day

Despite my posting prowess I really am terrible at this game

And of those 8000 how many were noobships and frigates?
Those were the predominant wreck type I seem to be seeing.

Actually, those living in null sec could be concidered "Scum" or "Adventurer" depending on the circumstances of their departure from high sec.
High sec residents could be concidered "Sheep" or "Govermental milkcows" because they prefer to live their lives sheltered under the rule of some obscure goverment without the abillity of influence.

Think of the "Burn Jita" campaign as an invasion by the Mongol hordes, there were so damn many of them that nobody could stand up to them or their empire for many years.

If a horde of Ghengis Khans henchmen invaded any modern city the police wouldn't be able to control them, why should Jita be any different?

As a carebear I heartily endorse what the Clusterfuck Coalition are doing, it's an epic move that would not be possible in any other game, well played GSF & friends for the amount of planning needed and the execution of said plan, well played CCP for allowing it to happen and providing the framework that makes it possible.

TL;DR

CCP rock, Eve rocks & Jita is burning

Without events like this I would never have started to play Eve, it's my 1st and definitely the only MMO I would consider playing.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

How so? High-sec is not Invulnerable-sec. It is not PvP-Free-Sec. It is simply higher security. You are not guaranteed safety, but you are guaranteed there will be a faster response to aggression.

And it's likely while some who are not suited to EVE will read that, others will look at it and see:

"Join EVE, a sandbox where every player can have an impact and where the developers applaud player initiative. Enjoy a game with almost no limits"

And they will flock to it. I'd say that every player upset at this, thinking the Goons need to be stopped do not understand EVE and its core principles.

How long have you played this game for? If you think High Sec is there to keep you 100% safe without risk of being blown up by other players utilizing the mechanics of the game then you have misunderstood the game and its ways in a very grave manner.

Read the Manifesto thread and you'll understand the pubbie rage about all this.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=101626&find=unread

To put it succinctly, these types feel that Highsec should be completely devoid of any PVP whatsoever. Oh, and Highsec should have all the good money making opportunities. And hey, while they're at it, ban all of Nullsec (cause it turns out they need technetium and OTEC / Goons are better at this "market fuckery" thing than they are).

In short, these twits have no freaking clue what EVE is and are desperate to convince CCP that what they really need to do is remove the very thing that makes EVE unique and successful.

Fortunately, CCP has sided against them:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-27-ccp-players-attempt-to-destroy-eve-online-economy-is-f-ing-brilliant

Which is probably why we're seeing lots of small threads instead of 1-2 threadnoughts. They don't smell blood in the water.

That line showed me that CCP still believes in the sandbox. CCP may make the rules, but we make the game.

This line was even more important to me, and restored my faith in CCPs vision that Eve is still supposed to be a dark dangerous place...
