EVE installed from Steam does not work when trying to reinstall

Hi,

Last night I had to reinstall Windows 7 because of a virus attack. I installed EVE Online, but when trying to start the game I just get the Incarna logo (when I bought the game on Steam Incarna was the latest patch) and nothing happens. The logo goes away after a couple of seconds, and I'm stuck. I can see that this is because it's not the latest patch, but I couldn't find out how to work around this problem.

I would try:

a) Install Direct X

1. Go into \CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX
2. Start DXSETUP.exe

b) Clear cache and settings

1. Clear cache and settings if you have any: http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=371

c) Look at logs

1. Start logserver.exe (can be found in your EVE directory)
2. Start the game (eve.exe)
3. Read the logs and try to figure out what is happening / Copy paste the info lines here.


d) Contact Custmer Support

1. Contact Customer Support by filing a petition under Technical

Installing DirectX fixed my problem. Thank you!
