Random client crashes since Escalation patch

For some reason my client has been randomly dropping since yesterday's patch. I've done a fresh install in a new prefix but get the same behaviour.

Any idea what's causing it?

Have some sympathy... the title of the thread in question doesn't say Escalation, and does say Ubuntu. One could be excused for not realizing that the thread is about what it's really about.
