Salvaging post escalation patch

With rats no longer dropping non meta loot but now dropping an abundance of scrap metal, does this make salvaging more or less worthwhile? The obvious answer is that removal of items dropped will lower loot yield no matter what, but there is other factors such as the rising cost of minerals due to the removal of drone spunk. I think if minerals go up, the value of meta items dropped from mission running will go up to reflect the higher value of their reprocessing. Will this ever reach the same rough value of pre-patch salvaging, surpass it, or just make salvaging even less worthwhile forever?

What are you talking about?? What does loot drop have to do anything with your salvage?

I think he means the term salvaging in the sense of looting all the wrecks as well as salvaging not just the salvage part.

It's an intersting thought though, I'm someone who has a noctis alt follow me around while I mission so I have lost a lot of extra income from all the meta0 loot I used to reprocess and sell.
I think yes over all we will lose money but maybe if the mineral prices stay up a little then the meta1 and 2 stuff most reprocess will be worth more.

Correct, I'm referring to the act of looting/salvaging missions/sites instead of blitzing through and leaving the trash to despawn.

So far I havent noticed a negative change and honestly its making it easy to salvage multiple missions since i dont have those huge cap chargers droping now. I have done Pirate Invasion x2, Enemies Abound 1-5 x2, Gone Beserk, Stop the Thief, a few storylines, Recon 1-3 x2, Smuggler Interception, Unauthorized Military Presence x2, Cargo Delivery and Assault. So far the loot and salvage is fine having a second account follow me in a Noctis. The one negative change is that drones drop zero loot now. I guess CCP was too lazy to add regular mob drops to drones.

Same. In fact, I'm making more isk from loot/salvage than I ever did before. Sure, there's lots of scrap metal now, but the (seeming) increase in meta 2+ mod drops from mission rats has resulted in an increase in isk/hour from full-clearing and cleaning out mission pockets (a buddy follows the combat group in a Noctis). Sure, the sample size is small (~3 days), but the results seem pretty solid.

Note: Been running more missions since the whole Jita **** started.

to me, it just means that isk/m3 are now higher than they were b4 Escalation

other things such as what to reprocess and what not is still exactly the same process as b4.

Business has been brisk, the loss of Drone poo has hurt abit, but the Meta-0 drops were not much different than scrap metal anyways.

Confirming, that this change will only mean a temporary change in loot profit. Prices for all this stuff will be dropping accordingly here real soon. Good news for people who pvp with meta mods I guess.

Metas are the way to go with regards to cheap fits with the cpu/pg on cap boosters, mwds, webs and disruptors.
