Site names

It would make good sense to not have the names of the sites (ie. MHG-745) change after every downtime. My corp and I have made a special bookmark naming pattern which contains the site's letters at the end. The idea was to be able to quickly identify new static wormholes - but it becomes a useless thing after downtime as the sites' names change after downtime.

Is it technically possible for CCP to make site names as permanent as the sites themselves?

I don't doubt it's possible ... they've done it already for ships.

Working out the new number plates for all the sites you've already located prior to DT is a bit of a time-consuming pain. Most w-space denizens have their own ways to cope with it, but it's still a bit of a nuisance.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Q.Q

Just scan them to 100%, bookmark them, toss them in a folder in corp bookmarks (eg; home WH sigs, etc) and you can eliminate them easily next time you drop probes.

Also, FYI, if a site, wormhole or anomaly spawns after downtime, it will have a different letter designation that those present at downtime. This helps you identify, viz. the wormhole sig easily if you cycle the static.

That's exactly what we do.

I know. :)

Making WHs easier is almost always a bad thing.

In my opinion, the way we currently have it (sites changing their own names after downtime) is rather stupid and makes no sense. If one finds something in space, and that something has its signature and codename... the name should persist for as long as that something does.

So, I believe persistent site names are just a logical next step in bettering wormholes.

And it's not about making wormholes easier - I like the constant sense of being in danger, the emptiness and I believe w-space is the closest to what I imagine RL space to be - it's about making wormholes make more sense.

I am using 4 Combat or Deep Space probes to locate the new IDs.

Simply place them in a way that they cover the whole System and you will get the relative position near you bookmark.

One still has to check if it is the right one, but it will at least give you an overview.

I guess that if you do things right in your cornhole, it can't take you more than 5 minutes to actualize all the bms after DT.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.
