Has anyone done what this GM has asked for? If so, have they gotten back to you with any sort of response?

GM Retrofire wrote:
If any of you are still suffering problems where the client either freezes or crashes could you gather the following information and file a petition in the Technical queue so we can gather these and investigate.

If your computer is completely locking up then the logserver file will unfortunately not help since it's not saved during the reboot.

This is a bit long but please follow each step so we get all of the information.

A ) Go to the directory where EVE is installed and create a shortcut for the EVE process ( eve.exe ) when the shortcut has been created right click on "eve.exe - shortcut" and select properties.

In the shortcut tab under Target add /minidump behind the target line so it'll look something similar to this "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /minidump

B ) Run Pingplotter while playing for network diagnostics. ( just in case if there's something network wise that could be the cause of this )

1. Download the program from http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_std.exe and run the installer once you've downloaded it.
2. Once the program has been installed, run the program
3. When the program has started, in the top left corner you can find a field called 'Address to trace', in this field type: 87.237.38.200
4. At the bottom left corner change the # of time to trace to Unlimited, and the Trace Interval to 2.5 seconds.
5. Click on the 'Trace' button at the bottom left corner.
6. Now run the EVE client and login. Play normally for an hour even if you are disconnected from EVE. Simply log in again and continue.
7. If you lose connection note down the time you lost connection (please note down both your local time and the EVE Time).
8. Now save the pingplotter files by going to the menu File -> Save sample set... and place it where you can find it.

C ) To minimize problems with running the logserver file its recommended that you either restart your computer or check Task managers process list for unresponsive instances of Eve.exe)

1. Find your Eve folder in Windows Explorer
2. When you have the Eve folder open, find "logserver.exe" and launch it (Do NOT have EVE running)
3. Select "File" -> "New Workspace"
4. Start Eve using the shortcut you created
5. When you have reproduced the bug, Eve crashes or when you kill the process if it hangs, select "File" -> "Save workspace as..." and save the workspace in a place you'll find it again.

D ) Finding the crashdump ( if one is created )

Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows XP
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows Vista or Windows 7

Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.

E ) Run the DirectX diagnostics tool:

1. Press 'Start' and select 'run'. Type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up.
2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner.

When you've gathered all the files compress them all into a .zip or .rar file ( depending on which compression program you use )
Then attach the compressed file to the petition you file under "My Petitions" on our homepage ( http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx ) open the petition there. An attachment box is presented after opening the petition. ( just remember to press the ADD key after browsing for the file

When we have this information we will hopefully be able to determine the cause of this issue

Just been on Sisi to have a look at the new release and I was freezing even more on there spent more time frozen than not. If that is how TQ will be after the 24th then it looks like I will be just skill setting until the remaining time on my accounts expires in June.

I also keep crashing almost as soon as i enter game.

I would make a petition but my game freezes/crashes before i can even start making one.

I'm also having complete system lockups where the only thing I can do is a forced powerdown. Happens about every other day with no real pattern as to when since i upgraded to a Radeon 7950 from my old 4870. Everything else stayed the same, only difference is the graphics driver and card. Trying the /minidump thing now.
edit: system is stable as anything with runtime >week under maximum load, crashes happen only in Eve.

Dam it just lost a pod and a valuable ibis thanks to freezing on a gate. Big smile I know my fault I should not of taken the risk and ventured into low sec while I know this issue exists, :P but hey I was just trying to play the game like it is meant to be played by taking a risk.

Oh well my loss live and learn avoid dangerous situations while this remains an issue.

seems that the majority of people having problems have intel cpu, and chipset couple with an invidia card .... anyone else close to pinpointing whats wrong?

There's no crashdump being generated with the /minidump option, network doesn't seem to be involved as the other client on the laptop kept running with no issues.

I have quite similar specs although a slightly different issue.

2700K, 16gb Vengeance RAM, 256GB Crucial M4 SSD, Asus Z58 board, 2x 6970 in crossfire, Win 7 64bit, ATI 12.3 drivers

Creeping VRAM use (as observed in MSI afterburner) and crashing once or more per day. 0x0A STOP error and computer reboots. Nothing in Error Reporting or viewable by BlueScreenViewer.

Never had this problem (and nothing changed) since I built the machine in Dec and it started happening after latest patch.

I have been trying to look into similarities in behaviour of the client freezing and start to get the feeling that the the GDDR is the problem of my client freezing.
Every time I get a lockup/freeze of the client, my framrate drop to 0 FPS and the (graphics) memory usage is over 950mb, sometimes even over 1000mb.

I already tried to disable several graphics options and some seem to have lowered the frequency of the freezes to happen, but they still exist.
No AA, no turret effects, no missile effects, no HDR, memroy caching enabled. The latter made the biggest improvement.

It happens more often when running 2 or 3 clients simultaneously, but it also happens when only one client is running.

To clarify, I do have good specs as described on page 2 of this thread and I do not have any heat issues.

I've just started having these issues with a new computer. I traded a laptop w/ no graphics card and Vista for an Asrock / AMD Radeon HD 7770 and it's locking up. Not fun.

OK, I haven't crashed for a week now and I played quite a bit during the weekend. Usually crashed once every other day, at best.

The only thing that I consciously changed is that I don't have Youtube running in the background (or not for extended periods at least). Other than that, I can't really see what I'm doing differently (except that we had this whole "Escalation" thing I keep hearing about. but I couldn't see anything related to our problem in the patch notes)

I'm more inclined to believe the Youtube connection is a coincidence rather than an actual clue.

Now, I probably just jinxed it and it's gonna crash as soon as I post...

Cheers

I need some more testing to be sure but I seem to have found a solution for my case and would like to ask some players with similar issues to try the following and possibly post in this thread to confirm if they get the same result.

I have been looking at the specs of some toher players and most of them seem t have a full set of 4 memory modules. This weekend I removed 2*4 gb, thus running 2*4 in dual channel atm and I did not have a lockup so far. That is whilew running 3 windowed clients over 3 monitors.

I need some more testing to be sure but somehoiw it seems there is a memory issue at least in my system.

Well I did some investigation and bug testing of my own into this issue and I have a solution that works 100% of the time at least for me (maybe others would like to try it and let me know if it also works for them). The solution is not ideal though by any means esp. if you prefer pretty graphics over playability / usability which incidentally I do not.

So here it is the solution that I discovered....

I now fly everywhere and do everything with the solar map displaying!!

(How I now fly > http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/2909/nonfreezesetup.png)

By doing the above I do not freeze ever which just confirms my belief that it is something to do with Eve's graphic engine (rendering) and perhaps certain graphic card compatibility that is the root cause, at least for the problem I am experiencing. Perhaps this is connected in some way with all the other graphical glitches others are posting about in other posts.

I have cleared my cache, stress tested my graphics card, memory and changed graphic drivers and Eve will continue to lock up at random intervals for 30 seconds or so if I do not use the above solution. I have no freezing issues in any other games that I play, this issue is unique to Eve. The fact that I can play Eve with out this issue with just the solar map displaying also tells me that it does not look like a connection issue.

Who knows maybe CCP will use this info to try and track down the problem or maybe they will simply choose to ignore this issue as seems to be currently happening.

If this also helps further it has to be the solar map as I will still lock up from time to time when viewing the star map. Maybe it be something to do with the blooming graphic effect on the travel dots causing the issue is this effect routine also used in space? I am just guessing as I really have no way of telling all I know is my client does not freeze 100% when the solar map is displaying (including when I use probes) and that obviously has limited animation and effects on.

Till this is addressed or even acknowledged I will continue to fly whilst staring at the solar map who needs pretty graphics anyway?

I have been unable to generate a report to send in, but I experience 1 to 3 sec freezes with buzzing sounds. Started about 1 month ago with nothing changed but after a patch update.

When the freezes happens sometimes I can keep the game going, but 1/3 of the time the PC freezes and everything wont work and I have to hard shutdown. When I restart I have to spend 30 min running the repair tool for eve, and trying to clear chache, or dl the game installer all over again (the full multi gig download) and reinstall.

Getting annoying

Hopefully a simple fix can be done.

Submitted a ticket, did everything they asked and no luck.

The ticket ended with them telling me to format.

I formatted today and just got everything up and running. Same problem occurs.

I've even upgraded my Motherboard and CPU to intel since submitting the ticket and no luck.

The problem happens when opening and closing windows. If I hit escape a bunch it will freeze. If I open windows or resize windows it freezes.

I just want to play.

I just spent the last 30 minutes in game hitting escape rapidly and opening and closing as many windows as I could.

I could not get it to crash. The only thing that I changed is I switched the windows theme to windows classic (i.e. no Aero).

I'll report back if I experience a crash, but this looks pretty good.

This undocumented feature is driving me nuts...
seems to occur when warp is initiated
also see strange UI artifacts (Lots of triangles) looks like a bubble(Interdiction) when it happens
If I can successfully get out of the system it is OK for a while..

but sometimes it just keeps on repeatedlyu throwing me out...
