So yeah, I stumbled upon this amazing looking, revolutionary new CCG looking for funding on Kickstarter. Seriously, you have to see this if you're at all into CCG's...it blow the doors off the old, tired CCG model!

I have no idea what a CCG is so something with "serpents-tongue-a-new-magick-experience" sounds rather kinky and disturbing.

So, nobody else here is into CCG's? They just introduced Tier 2 stretch-goal rewards and they look awesome. These guys are innovators.

I have to say, that looks stupidly amazing

However, it is also the nerdiest thing I've ever seen in my life. Seriously, can you imagine what the championships would look like?

Totally, totally nerdy. I wear my geek badge proudly! But the more I follow it, the more nerd-cool and less nerd-neckbeard it seems to me.

When it comes to lesser-known CCG's I would play Firestorm.

Hi! Reformed Pokemon and MtG fan here, currently proud owner of Fantasy Flight Games Call of Cthulhu and Lord of the Rings LCGs

After spending hundreds of $$$$$ (my parents thankfully, not mine) on Magic cards, and realizing the never ending cycle of crap I decided to quit when 7th edition came out and decided to shelve my precious cards, some of them worth over a 100$ back in the day in the market.

Then I discovered the wonders the Lord of the Rings and Call of Cthulhu LCGs were and how you could play with them over and over not fearing a lame company would push you to recycle the ruleset making mechanics completely impossible or relegated to Non Standard tourney format, I decided to skip CCGs altogether and enjoy card games for what they were, fun games that with moderate investment made you spend hours in fun playing with friends.

Now, your CCG link looks amusing and I will peruse this new deck of cards in the genre , but really, if you a card game enthusiast, skip CCGs, unless you like to collect them and have a lot of $$$ to spend. LCGs are better imho.

Also since we talking of games played in tables, Id like to recommend to you this marvelous 2 player game, that will give you hours of sheer fun and tactical complexity.

TWILIGHT STRUGGLE , best damn cold war era tactical game. Have managed to play it only once and immediately ordered a copy of it.

Cheers!

OMFG ... I WANT IT! LOL! Just read it.

Even the part where it derides the LCG concept, which I dont share though, you buy to a point and are ok with it, which was my main issue with regular CCGs.

If the game as Im understanding it works in that way, and is built as a real stand alone product (we all know we will want xpacs anyway) I might be hooked. Still reading on it, hmmm.

Honestly the stupid addons , dice and journal are the things that made me drool over it (bit of a collector)

If not it will look cool next to my BSG, Underworld and Descent Boardgames and LCGs

You know, I have always looked at the kickstarters with a bit of mistrust, I was tempted once to help for the Order of the Stick one a while ago, but dunno, anyone else helped-pledged a project before willing to explain to me if it is trustworthy enough? not going to die over 40$ scammed online if it ends up fake. The CCG looks neat, and if Im understanding the mechanics enough it will be a blast to play if a bit loud :P ... Intriguing.

Brujo: Sounds like you're the exact kind of gamer who would really enjoy Serpent's Tongue. Calling it a CCG is a bit of a misnomer as you've already seen; it's so much more than that. Dig into it further, I think you'll like it more and more. In particular, check out their future plans: http://www.becomemagi.com/future-plans/ as well as their vision statement for the game: http://www.becomemagi.com/vision-statement/

As for Kickstarter, put simply, it rocks. This is my 4th or 5th funded project and I plan to support many more as long as good ones like ST keep coming along.

Thanks for the recommend, I'll have to check that one out.

And another for you to check out: Flash Point Fire Rescue. I don't own it yet, but it sounds amazing. It was also originally funded through Kickstarter, but I missed out on that one (the Kickstarter page for it is here).

Will check it too :D

Was wondering on funding the project, bah, I made some ez 300$ off a casino here in Panama one night might even throw the bills at them for lifetime free xpacs. If I get the neat faux leather journals with cards and they are indeed like they describe them on the video it will be worth for me, mostly because I like collecting games that have interesting art, even if they are unplayable or not very popular.

Actually considering pledging. The props and extras look so damn cool. Just hope I dont have to post later how I was scammed. Kinda looks semi legit, but if Steve Jackson and Fargo used Kickstarter for Ogre and Wasteland 2, if any fault is to be found in there is from the people promoting the project.

Seems like a nice gamble. hmmmm ...

It's legit, that much I can be sure of. Whether the game takes off or not is another story, but as you said, it's an amazing collectible either way!

I've played Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, World of Warcraft, Dragonball Z, and I still play Magic: the Gathering. It's been a while since I've looked at a CCG and said, "This has a lot of potential." I would certainly give it a shot!

Leadership is something you learn. Maybe one day, you'll learn that.

Well then, I certainly hope you DO give it a shot and join up in support!
