…yes, that title made sense. Ugh

Anyway, it seems you've once again updated a bunch of the scripts for the forums and (re)externalised some of the code that handles things like the god-awful popups and pointless bling that infest large parts of the site. So once again, I've had to put portions of googles code repository on my block list.

I am not interested in an auto-scrolling link to the top of the page — I have a perfectly useful “home” key (and that part would be far better handled through CSS-based positioning anyway).

I am not interested in pop-ups that forces me to jump through hoops to go to another page — I know I am, that's why I clicked the link (and no, our old friend Audrey Bitoni isn't an excuse for overwriting — read: breaking — the default browser behaviour; people who fall for those ruses will do so even with a link warning).

I am not interested in an editor that alters what I write on the fly — let me write what I want to write.

So I'm once again begging you for one (or both) of two things. Either host all the javascript code you use on your own site so I can block it without breaking other sites that use the same code for less malicious annoying purposes, or give us an option to turn all of that crap OFF. Please!

Options is not a dirty word. “Reducing options even outside of your own website” is about as dirty as a collection of words can get.

"EVE-Gate", these forums, and their ham-fisted implementation are an abomination.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

+1. Glad to see forums/Gate are being iterated on, but they're not being iterated in any particular direction, nor fixing any of their problems.

Speaking of which, I bet that % and links aren't fixed yet. Let's see.Edit: Oh hey, they were. I think that merits a dev blog in and of itself.

Can we have some communication from the CCP web team?

Using IE and seeing no pop ups, annoyances or going through loops...

By hoops I presume Tippia means the stupid popup you get when trying to click on a link that leads to an external (ie not CCP hosted) website

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Try clicking the link in my signature (in fact… that's another option we need to get back: why can't I turn off the display of signatures?) and see what happens…

…now try opening it in a new tab. Now try opening it in a background tab. Depending on your browser, that behaviour will either be broken, unreliable, or just work as normal, all because they decided to alter how links behave. This is probably as bad as coding practices ever go. Altering default behaviours (especially in a way that is as unreliable as this) is just amateur hour and would be downright comedic if it wasn't so sad.

When I click on a link, I want my browser to act as if I clicked on a link — nothing more, nothing less. If I shift-click that link, I want it to act like if I shift-clicked it; if I middle-clicked it, I want it to act as if I middle-clicked it; if I ⌘-click it (on my Mac) I want it to act as if I ⌘-clicked it (etc…). I want to have the option to let my browser work the way my browser work, not the way CCP assumes that browsers work (because their assumption will always be wrong).

I want the option to turn their false assumptions off. Whether it's through a setting in the preference pane (the one which is pretty much completely devoid of any preference settings) or by hosting the forum code on their own servers so I can just add the offending files to my content blocker, I don't really care — I just want it gone.

edit: Oh, and CCP, I can't help noticing that you altered the page layout to rely more on tables than on divs, when the things you changed should use the exact opposite markup. Newsflash: table-based layouts died with the 1990s… revert that nonsense.
