Issue solved by downloading the launcher installer there :

and installing it.

Works for launcher version 1.312, on 2012.04.27



Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that yesterday and today, twice in a round, the launcher would start downloading a patch, and then nothing.

The launcher simply wouldn't start. ( cursor shows "working in background" for a second or two, then back to normal and nothing else happens).
If I delete launcher's cache directory, something is downloaded, then nothing happens.
If I try to use "update.exe" in the launcher/cache directory, it says something is installing, then nothing else.
If I try to launch Eve directly through "Eve.exe", nothing happens.

If I try to launch "launcher_console.exe", the last line shows it tries to download an update then craches. If I download it manually, nothing else happens. (launcherupdate_1_312.dat).

If I try to use "Repair.exe" latest version, it starts, hashes files and download stuff, and eventually says repair has been successful, but launcher won't start either.

The only way I can get the game running, and the launcher, is to uninstall it completely and use the latest eve installer to download a fresh client. That's what I'm doing now.

Problem is : it's a bit annoying (yes, I do love understatements) to download almost 5 Gb of data everyday with the slow connexion I have. (it takes hours).


I'm running a Win 7 x64 configuration, with Avast! free antivirus (not ESET), no software firewall, and the computer is directly plugged to the router, which contains a hardware firewall, with Nat Rules checked.

Am I missing something ?

I have this same problem. Had it two days ago as well.

The solution that worked for me was to simple download the latest launcher manually. However, I haven't found a download link for the launcher and no one has replied to my request posted in this forum for it to be posted.
