I'm told apple fans (the evangelical ones) have an experience similar to that of religious ones... Therefore logic and rationality break down.

Apple has been the man for a few years now. Hell if Microsoft pulled half the crap that apple has recently people would have stormed the gates by now. But hey It's apple so...They get a pass.

Also im pretty sure Samsung did rip off some of apples products. Can't blame em though they do sell.

The way Apple is so very evil yet packages itself as wholesome reminds me of Momcorp in Futurama.

Yep they are backstabbing scumbag company. What is Samsung suppose to do put waves in its pads to make it different? Or did apple pay off a Euro judge? Samsung makes better stuff anyway.

Amazon pad is 300 bucks cheaper anyway and hope they destroy Apple. I will order one tomorrow even if I like the Motorola Zoom far better than Apple crap.

lol dood thats my local rag u linked P

But yeah. Summarising:

1) Apple Aus is afraid of Samsungs marketing power for the Galaxy Tab

2) Apple needs any way possible to stop it, so launches legal action

3) To go further, it bans Samsung AND any other Australian retailer to sell it

I guess Apple's iPad won't seem so exciting once folks realize that the Galaxy/iPad are essentially just smartphones with 10" screens.

It's all or nothing I'm afraid.

You either protect your IP or you don't.

The minute you let one miniscule infringement, or even, potential infringement pass - you open it up to everything and anyone potentially infringing your whole back catalogue.

Then, when you go to court about it, the defence will argue you are being picky/selective about who you do and do not sue, which can affect consumer perception.

Apple got there first with the iPhone and it took 5 years for the competition to compete effectively, now it's the iPad's turn.

Sad that people cannot think up an original idea, or, admit that Apple got it right and everyone else screwed up or didn't have the resources to commit to an R&D plan for tablets.

It not surprising what is happening, regardless of whichever camp you are in.

Anyone remember HP's attempt? This is a company that spent gazillions on R&D and killed off their tablet.

Shame.

Because everything Apple has ever made is in no way shape or form an iteration of a previously established concept. Everything they have ever made has never been done before, they are the truly creative people, and everyone else is riding on their coattails, AMIRITE?

Twist words much?

'back when the original iPhone was released, there were no phones that had touch-screen and a decent user interface. Yes, I consider that a first, with stacks of R&D behind it.

Whereas the real phone manufacturers like blackberry and Nokia didn't commit enough to developing new technology. The shareholders can clearly see that Nokia screwed up and are loosing market share at an exponential rate.

Tablets are similar, no one was even thinking about committing to that market and they took it by storm.

There is room in the market for more competition - but until they make something which is original, they are looking at the crappy end of a law suit.
