Complexes and triggers

Hi there,

due to not being able to find the answer in devblogs, (though i may have overlooked it), I'm asking it here:

Have the triggers of all complexes/anomalies/escalations been "removed" and changed to "after killing the whole wave" as of the Inferno-update?

I can only speak about Serpentis/Guristas sites both hi/low sec. Just started null so I don't know enough about that yet.

In rated complexes you need to kill all the rats to proceed to the next room. In final room there will be an overseer or overseer structure that drops the loot so you only need to kill those.

In unrated complexes there are usually some triggers that allow you to get site escalation/faction spawn easier. Sometimes you can bypass first room by using tags ( Serp/Guri minor annex, Guri annex ) or shoot specific rat/structure.
Reading messages ( pop-ups or those that appear in the chat window ) is usually useful to determine what is the trigger ( like in both annexe sites). Sometimes factions spawns might be triggered by timer ( Guristas Vigil ).

During escalations you need to kill faction spawn if it is there ( in higher end escalations it will usually spawn but it's still random ) and it might trigger next escalation step. Sometimes you will need to kill all the ships ( very rarely ) or some specific structure.
Final escalation site is usually like final rated DED room - overseer rat/structure.

General advice : always read messages ( including those in chat window ), kill specific named rats and destroy specific structures ( Smugglers Gate, Weapons lab etc. ). After a while you will know what is the trigger for specific site.

While I appreciate the answer, it doesn't yield the information I need. That may be due to a wrongly put question.

To specify:
If a complex/anomaly/escalation until recently had a trigger, which allowed you to bypass killing all npc in a certain wave, does that trigger still exist or has it been exchanged with "kill all npc in wave A to make wave B spawn"?

I did several sites since Escalation patch and it seems to work just like it used to so the triggers are still there.

They changed it so that incursion sites require you to kill the complete wave. To the best of my knowledge exploration sites weren't changed at all (other than correcting the Angel 4/10 loot table).

It is only Incursions at this point.


For future reference, Dev blogs are not where to look. Look at patch notes.
