Will this tablet run eve? I want to play at work, run two accounts. One rorqual and one hulk. With minimum settings will it work on this?

Thanks.

Explain to your boss that it's vitally important that you play with pretend spaceships during office hours. I'm pretty sure he can resolve this issue for you very quickly.

And this likely outcome is beneficial to everyone! You get more EVE time and the company is more productive!

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Touch screen targetting sounds nice.

performance on fleets probably won't be as nice.

I work in a warehouse with a lot of downtime between shipments. My boss plays eve too. Will this tablet work or not?

Ask your boss? He might know and then you have a good opportunity to chat about EVE as well!

Ignore the trolls. They thrive on misery.

These are the minimum specs required to play EVE.

With the Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics in that slate it might be able to run one client smoothly with everything at bare minimum levels. I have my doubt's about 2 clients but it may be possible. Memory bandwidth could be an issue as the integrated graphics share with system memory and it only has 4GB. Recommended specs for eve is 2GB so it might be ok if it's the only thing running besides the OS. Also playing eve on a touch screen interface could be interesting but I'd opt for the blue tooth mouse and keyboard too if I were you.

It should play EVE but I can't guarantee it will. That's something you'll have to decide. If I were you I'd find a local electronics store that carries it and ask them to install EVE and see if it works. If the sales person really wants that sale they'll do it for you.

EDIT: SABLE is correct I didn't even bother to check if the GPU supported SM 3. So no it will not work!!!Oops

Or just install like VNC or similar (Remote Desktop even) on your home computer and you can play from your cellphone if needed...

Not. Why? This:
Quote:

GPU/VPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000

That thing does not support shader model 3 which is minimum requirement for eve to work.

Also this:
Quote:

Video Memory: Shared system memory

Shared memory for GPU is bad, you can switch skills and update your market orders but undocking would be a no-no.

It doesn't render what you don't see, it only renders the client that is on top at that time, therefore, the client running on the background uses much much less oomph, so it could actually be possible.

1 EVE client may use 2GB of memory, but this does not automatically mean that 2 clients use up 4GB and 3 use up 6GB etc etc.
That's one of the wonders of objects oriented programming and making use of class libraries.
You only have to load them into memory once and can then use them for as many programs as your memory can hold.
I presume about 1.4-1.7GB of the game consists of Class libraries, so that means the game itself is only using 600 to 300 MB.

Example: ( i do have to say that i have no clue how the class libraries are made in EVE, but this is just an example )

The way a Orca looks is described in 1 class library, that library is loaded into memory when the game starts.
Now if you start another client, you don't need to load that library again, you just use the one that is already in memory.

Hope this makes sense

Edit: What the chap above me stated about shader model 3, is more then probably correct.

This just makes me scream "why not just get a laptop?"

but then personally, I "don't get" tablets, to me they fill the empty ground between smartphones and netbooks.... which is empty for a reason.

Heheh, yeah, i don't get them either.
But that's what Apple did to the world, anything they make is apparently superduper awesome, just because it's from Apple and then every other company follows suit.

Intel HD Graphics 3000 = not a snowballs chance
it will probably chug along at 5 fps and let you change skills and possibly chat (slowly).

Much easier to carry a tablet around, plus it's easier to hide my iPad under a sheet of paper when the manager pops in to see me. Also I don't know about netbooks battery life but I can get 12 hours out of my iPad when I am browsing forums and playing music over the 3G connection.

I had a tablet with a pen back like 6 years ago.. with a pen it was hard to play.. with the finger i could see menu navigating being frustrating.

get a cheap netbook, you wont cry when that gets damaged/goes missing at work

ONLY THE HARD.  ONLY THE STRONG.

It may work, but apparently you won't.
