Can anyone suggest a solo or small group pvp fitting for the prophecy that uses lasers? I know the harbinger is better in every way but I don't have much time to play and earn isk so I'm trying to keep it cheap. Having trouble finding a laser fit on battle clinic, they all seem to have projectiles.

It has the benefit of never being primary while holding a good tank. You want a gang big enough to have tacklers though.

The issue is that the prophecy doesn't have a damage or rate of fire mod for lasers. just the reduced cap mod...

So why not use projectiles and get around using cap all together, and while your at it gain flexibility of damage type with little change in DPS over using lasers?

or blasters which already use less cap innately and do more damage?

both track better as well...

I suppose you might not have projectiles or hybrids trained though.

Yeah that's why, basically I have a lot of sp invested in lasers already.

blaster proph is pretty nice.

and yeah neutrons use less cap then hpl with the bonus to cap.
track better, less fittings and do more dps.
just to show how totaly useless is that bonus to cap for lasers...

I got killed in this last night in a small BC gang without logistics support (hence the self-rep). Did about as much damage as you can expect from a Laser Prophecy, and lasted a fair amount of time after eventually being called primary .

If I had logi I would have gone with the plated fit listed earlier.

I'm kinda feeling that and completely regretting having so many sp in lasers. Every ship I try to fit turns out better in every way with projectiles or hybrids. which makes me regret being amarr since one of my ship bonuses is wasted on a cap reduction and I still have to fit undersized guns on anything below a BS.

But i'm trying to stick with it regardless and hope they give me a reason to use lasers. I know it started with lasers being so high DPS that the fitting restrictions and cap issues were to balance it out but that was a long long time ago from the sound of things.

Is it worth going with a single rep and plate instead of dual reps or should you strictly go either all out rep or all out buffer?

also I wonder what it would take to fit heavy (medium) lasers on there....or if it would even be possible.

Wouldn't recommend flying this solo, but if you're gonna be the last ship in your gang to be shot at, you can probably skimp on the tank for a bit more damage. Plus most small gangs are gonna want to favour maneuverability; something these 1600mm fits will struggle with.

409dps at 26.5km with scorch, 1245m/s, could go a bit faster if you drop the tracking enhancer for another nano.

I've only flown this once and it died horribly, but it was the last ship of our gang standing.

dont be afraid to use weapons outside of "racial" guidelines

dont fret about training lasers. large pulse lasers make it worthwhile.
