Remember When I Said Alts Were The New Wardec Shield?

With wardec costs based on the target alliance/corporation's membership numbers, it seemed a no-brainer that alts would become the new decshield.

A lot of people scoffed.

Kelduum has just announced, on the EVE University forums (members-only section), a new Ivy League corporation devoted solely to alts and ex-members of the University.

For no other reason than to pad the membership totals, to increase the cost to declare war on the University. Woo! Way to go CCP Greyscale, Carebear Defender. Look at all the logged out targets one gets to go to war with when they pay the inflated fee. You did say after all that the costs were a reflection of the war targets you'd get to fight.

I'll let Kelduum speak for himself though, because as a CSM member, looking out for everybody, he speaks writes so eloquently.

Quote:
Hi all,
With the wardec changes coming up in May, the situation where we do what we can to keep the membership numbers down to avoid attention is counter-productive, so we will be launching the Ivy League Hall of Residence in the next few days.

This is an alt corporation for any current/past E-UNI members, recruitment of which will be semi automated - this will require the Unista to decare their alts characterID via a special hidden forum field, which will then be matched to the applications and then accepted/denied.

As members of Ivy League, alts in that corporation will not be given any roles or titles (at least initially), and therefore will have no corp hangar access or similar, but will still be able to fly in E-UNI fleets.

If you have an alt which wishes to join, then please have them apply now and I will post more details later with the full recruitment process when its been completed.

Thanks,

This your attempt at saying I told you so? Does the new system help blob alliances out there? Sure does but your not the only one that saw it coming. I guess CCP likes blob blocks... What your talking about is nothing compared to the 0.0 blocks that will be almost immune IMO because the cost is too high.

free trials are free. That's why we call them free trials.

My guess, people will put 2 and 2 together and just make invite channels that act as corps and swallow the NPC tax because its still more productie than being station camped by girefers.

This was to be expected.

CCP show some balls and deal with this wardec evasion bullshit once and for all.

Not yet set in stone so Kelduum is jumping the gun a bit. If he is using his CSM privileges in an inappropriate manner, well, that's something else entirely. Breach of NDA could possibly be proven by his own admission there, but not likely.

Anyway, you were doing so well without resorting to Uni shitposting...

Opps, I guess the blob is so big even CONCORD needs to be paid a lot of donuts to look the other way.

Though I would imagine it would be tempting to fight in highsec. Uh, wait ..

Kelduum, I see you have thought about how to best use the mechanisms available to you to defend yourself in the structure of the wardec system.

I see you can adapt when the game changes on you. Well done !

Lol you mean remember when the guy at Fanfest brought this up? Or when everybody brought this up?

Anyways nothing is set in stone about the cost and CCP has had quite a bit of time to think about it since Fanfest. It's really way too early too start gathering alts or whining about people gathering alts. I'll give CCP the benefit of the doubt until they release the official new wardec cost formula.

It's the perfect time to start whining about alts, to bring it to CCP's attention before anything is set in stone.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Multiple characters on a single account are counted only a single time.

2. Characters active within the last 7 days are counted. Inactivity greater than 7 days is not counted. Since wardec cycles last 7 days, this seems a reasonable time span to determine inactivity.

…yes, I remember when I brought it up as the first question at the fanfest wardec roundtable.

Decshielding is now the default mechanic for wardecs — nothing surprising here. It's completely contrary to the intention, but it is still (somehow) the intended design. vOv

You need an age of >51 days, other wise people will make endless alts with the plex thing to get 51 day non-trials.

refresh my memory... is the intention a way to allow coprs to have fights in highsec or to grief noobcorps? Or is that the same?

Put a cap on how much a war could cost seems like a semi-good solution.

Besides, I think the curve for pricing should be a reverse bell curve based more on total SP of all pilots in both corps/alliances anyway.

If the two forces are equal, its cheapest. Any sway in either direction and it'll cost more, and should scale with SP per character not just per character.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

Odd I plan to actually start a player corp (fully dec-able) after the summer when I see the whole expansion ingame and size it up... might enlist the corp in FW also just for kicks... not sure people are looking to avoid the new system...

I just wanted to have a few things added over the years and they seem to be putting that in... that merc corps and allies can come in, and so on... what was really missing with the system was just that... expanding the conflict and HESSIANS!!!... so I am personally looking forward to the next few months to see what comes of it.

there is always going to be the player base that doesn't want to be in anything other than a barge shooting rocks or a POS counting ice-cubes... but I think we will see more people coming out from the changes than seeking a bunker. - have to see, but lets give it a chance before people call on it... until it's out there and done, WIP... and we are not even into the main expansion.

All I will say is look at how bad vg's have been ****** up and think about ccp's recent track record on big changes and not the trivial.

Benefit of the doubt to :ccp:? No chance after last years multiple balls ups.
