video cards for plex, you have to ask yourself who's bright idea was this?
All this little sale did was drive the price of a plex up, further than they are now.
It is my opinion that CCP should stay out of the business of selling video cards for plex.
All you are accomplishing is running up the price of a plex

This is my ONLY char... at all... 13m sp. I was averaging 233m/day for the past 30 days. I don't see the issue with plex at 500m. That's like 2 days of playing.

Video cards for PLEX only caused short spike in price. PLEX price dropped back to ~ 500 mil really soon. (just see price history)

Lol, im sure that deal didint even make plex price shiver.

Anyways i would like ccp continue these innovative method of getting plexes out of game. I would recomend next offers a good quality gameing keyboard/mouse/headset. Or as everyone knows that all serious corps/alliances uses out of game voice chats, maybe xx amount of plexes pays xx slot voice server for a year...

Come on CCP theres too much isk going arround and not enough isk sinks. Thats why even OP is complaining about PLEX prices. Plex prices are where people feel good paying for them.

Player traded goods are not isk sinks. The isk just passes from one player to another and never leaves the game.

I was surprised by it. Isn't it just a way for people to turn plex into real cash?

I can't think of many ways people are able to turn isk into cash legally but CCP seem to have provided a legitimate way.

Won't some of the traded plexes get bought by non traders and thus be an isk sink?

It's a way for people to turn plex into real world goods, which can then be turned into real cash if desired.

Paying for your subscription by PLEX is buying a real world good (an MMO subscription) with isk, but that subscription cannot be "legally" traded on for real cash.

Paying for your fanfest ticket by PLEX is buying a real world good with isk. I do not know if there were any rules against trading those on.

So getting real world goods for isk isn't anything new. It's being allowed to trade those real world goods after you have obtained them that is new.

No. Because the "non-trader" exchanges isk for the PLEX.

Think about where the isk has gone.

I thought it was pretty genius. They sold out in only a few minutes and took thousands of PLEX off the market.

obviously many players value isk at a far lower price than the conversion of $20 real money for one PLEX. At $20 per PLEX these cards were $400 worth of PLEX yet the cards are only worth about $200. I expect everyone who participated in this exchange bought the PLEX with isk not real money.

All these players would rather spend 10 billion ISK (20 PLEX@500mil isk= 10 bil isk) for a graphics card upgrade than spend $200 real money for the same card. This would seem to indicate that PLEX prices can still go way up before the isk value needed to buy a PLEX reaches the equivalent of a monthly subscription for most of the wealthy players in EVE. The balance lies not in the market manipulators of EVE but in the balance between the players with enough spare time to earn there sub in isk compared to the number of players who value their time enough to buy PLEX for real cash rather than spend time in game grinding isk.

There are many players in EVE who can easily make enough isk during there game time (+20 hours per week) to buy PLEX, Yet there are also many players with plenty of spare cash to spend on recreation such as playing EVE but are very limited in their time they can actually spend playing. for these it is far more cost/time effective to not only pay for their sub but buy PLEX to sell in game to supply the isk they need to have fun during the limited time they have to log in.

That sounds like a Win-Win!

Assuming plex value increases faster than inflation, this is good for CCP. More demand for plex should cause more plex to be purchased.

They just need to be careful not to alienate the not-so-isk-rich regular plex users. These users are the constant consumers with whom CCP needs to keep playing, because they keep a constant demand for plex instead of the bursts.

If you think CCP wants you to play for free, you are an idiot. High PLEX prices are good, because that means more people will buy them from CCP.

Playing with PLEX isn't playing for free. It's playing with a subscription paid for by someone else.

That is a very important distinction.
