What class should i start working on I don't like missioning very much but wormhole diving intrigues me. What class should i be looking to probe down and exploring? I will be probing with my drake omni tanked with 70+ to all resistances. I will be salvaging with a noctis alt who also will have a probe launcher in their cargo. I just want to make sure my first experience is a good one i have read all the guides to wormholes and know how to tell what they are. I am just wondering which would be more profitable for me and safer to start on as this will be my first venture. my allaince is looking to later move into a wh but for now id like to try my luck at making isk on these.

Considering all WH are 0.0, go for C2

use a destroyer with cloak, scanner , 3 tractor and 3 salvage, 1 mwd , 1 analyzer and 1 codebreaker ( offline em when you dont need em )

2 salvage rigs ( important )

destroyer cheaper to loose and move much faster

Non of the sleepers in C1 or C2 anoms warp scramble so you can warp out if in trouble. C1 anoms will be easy. C2 anoms reasonable with decent shield and missile skills.

Top tips.

Explore the WH in a Cloaky Cov Op's.

D-Scan is your friend.

If occupied - find the tower and look up the corp who owns it on Battleclinic to find out how likely they are pop you.

Weigh the risks then reship to your plexing ship if going for it!

Never talk in Local.

Salvage in a Dessie not a Noctis - you ARE going to get popped - it's just a case of when. Being paranoid will cost you fewer ship losses.

Once you are really really paranoid and truely believe everyone else in WH space is out to get you, you can consider yourself a propper denizen of WH space. Because they are.

I have been in WH space for a year or so and love it.

Have fun.

W-space can be fun, can be very profitable, and is almost always a challenge.

A decent drake should have no problems soloing the sites in a C1, and little trouble in a C2. Generally, you will make more isk in C2 than C1 ... and you won't be able to bring anything larger than a battlecruiser into a C1.

There are a number of ways to approach your w-space efforts, with the main options being:
- Transient 'harvester' visiting a system and clearing some or all of the available anomalies and signatures. A good way to get a feel for w-space, and some profit, without making too big an initial investment.
- Resident relying on system resources. Not harvesting neighbouring systems via your static(s). Good for solo or small group efforts.
- Resident relying on harvesting neighbouring systems via static WH(s). Often suited to larger groups.

If you're taking the first approach, usually probe scanning WHs in hisec and jumping thru them to harvest sites in the linked w-system, then you are going to need several capabilities.

You need to be able to probe scan. When you're starting out you should never be in w-space without having the capability to scan and find a WH back out to hisec (or wherever you came from). This is because WHs do collapse, and you can find yourself stranded in a w-system if you can't find the other WHs ... and there are no locals able / willing to help you.

You need to be able to clear the NPCs from the anomalies and encounter sigs. A decent drake, and a little care, should have no trouble here in C1 ... and not too much trouble in C2.

You need to be able to salvage and loot the wrecks (optionally also to hack / analyze if you also run mag / radar sites). Sleepers don't provide isk via bounties, so your income comes from the salvage (especially melted nanos) and the loot (various 'blue books' of differing value that can be sold to hisec NPC corps).

When I tried the transient harvester approach I ran a drake or typhoon (DPS to kill the sleepers), a cheetah (covops probe scanner), and a thrasher rigged and equipped for salvage but also with codebreaker / analyser available. If I were doing it again today I'd probably use a noctis ... although they're more costly to lose they are very very quick to clear a sleeper site. I never did try the one-ship-does-it-all approach.

If you're visiting w-systems and harvesting, then don't forget the grav (mining) and ladar (gas) sites, even if you're not planning to mine or harvest the gas. Those sites are guarded by a single spawn of small sleepers and they are relatively easy to kill and seem to deliver more melted nanos than some of the tougher sites (or mebbe I've just seen the sunny side of random there).
We would also ninja-mine w-systems from hisec. It was fun but not terribly profitable since we didn’t know much then and kept getting jumped by locals .... some were kind enough to recognise our noobness and send us away with a stern warning, others were not.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.
