I loled.

Right, now here's a question which had always been bouncing in my head for ages :

Women, traditionally, they cook right? By rights, they should really be very good at it.
The cooking knowledge being passed down from grandmothers to mothers to daughters.

Now, why do I see the majority of accomplished chefs out there ... MEN?

The feminist movement made 'professional' women ashamed of things like that. When they set out to make a career they go for jobs men typically excel in.

Meanwhile men just want to make cash and don't have any hangups about how.

My missus is one hell of a great cook, i feel ashamed sometimes i don't cook enough in retaliation!

But, she likes to do it, and i like to make desserts, like Black Forest gateus.

Half-jokingly : Cooking is tasty SCIENCE!
Mild sarcasm : So, because women are bad at science, it's obvious men should be better at SCIENCE! too, so tasty version obviously also.
Tentative seriousness : Whoever cooks as an obligation will not be inclined to experiment too much, however if you do it as a hobby or as a job, you will kind of have to. The most high-profile//famous chefs might be men, but there's plenty of female high-class chefs too - that has more to do with visibility than sexual predisposition towards cooking.
Pseudoscientifically : On the other hand, females DO find it easier to distinguish between tastes and colours, so they might be more tempted to "play by ear" instead of keeping a very clear-cut (and easily repeatable) record, so that would explain the slight edge of men in the final preparation stages. However, women should find it easier to gather the right ingredients.

Well, there is one thing I seem to agree.

Men can cook better, but women can get better prices for ingredients than men.

The type of woman you will impress with cooking will be impressed with your effort, whether you succeed or not is only added bonus points. Most chicks are happy to see a man that don't starve without their mothers. 5 star chef material is not needed.

If your looking for the added bonus points, the only one in that list I can see that will net you big points would be a well done complicated dessert (don't be insulted if she only eats 2 bites, normal for a chick)... well, maybe a perfect pasta sauce

just my opinion

It's worth noting: The other type of woman you will impress by taking her somewhere expensive where they cook far better than you ever could.

I dont know about you....

But as a female, i quickly figured out that all i had to do was burn stuff when i cook, and put way too much, or too little coffee in the cup when im asked to make it for him.....

They only ask a few times....

Then they do it for you ;)

Picked that trick off my mum - who just cant figure out how to work the coffee machine while dad's around - but when he's not she's fine with using it :P

Are you being tricked by us into feeling your'e superior just so we dont have to do the work?

Are we becoming the couch potatoes that demand the Men fetch us the beer while we watch the footy game?

The best recipe is the 'variety is the spice of life' one; You can exchange tips here all you want (like you always do ^^) but if you get to know her on an individual basis you'll get further

Anyway, cooking something someone personally enjoys a lot is a good tip, for everyone

My take on this is just one word - passion.

Men loves good food. There's an age old adage that mentions the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So, it wouldn't be surprising, somewhere down in the subconcious mind that if they've been eating sub-par cooking; some men would remedy that by doing the cooking themselves. Over time, it turned into an art or science because of the male mind tendencies to become focused on a task (where as the female mind is more distributed). This has the effect of advancing their repertoire and knowledge on all things related to cooking.

So, the result from all that is a gaggle of highly skilled male chefs dominating the culinary world.

Speaking for myself personally, I enjoy cooking. I remember a faux pas one day, sitting in a chick coffee shop with a female friend, eating cakes. I commented that the cake sucks and the texture was too hard in the normal male blunt and efficient statement ... then stated I bet I can make a better cake. (yeah I know, a major social ooops! ...oh well) See the passion there? Big smile

Yeah, because there is nothing I look more for in a prospective partner then an inability to perform simple tasks. Like feeding oneself. Or a woman being a manipulative psycho.

Good luck with that.

Well, I'm not sure how you're defining "professional chefs" but when it comes to high-profile or famous chefs (or most any profession) they do tend to be men.

When it comes to dedicating yourself to something, and even taking it to the "extremes" then you'll find men. Men'll take things to the extremes, extreme eating, extreme sports, extreme laziness, extreme computer programming and even when it comes to "womany" things like cooking. And when you (or the media) look for people who have gone all out, dedicating their lives to things, and pushing the envelope, they tend to find a lot of men at least in most cases (obvious exceptions where being a man prevents you from it not included.) It's not that women don't do the same thing, it just doesn't seem like women that readily do when compared to men.

*LOL*

I'd teach you how to do it right.
I'd ask you why you pretend not being able to do it right. (because it gets obvious after trying to teach)
I'd drop you because of your stupidity, or because of your manipulative behavior.

Seriously, your small story gives you a look of "manipulative *******"
and "you only had stupid men who could be easily manipulated".

If you feel PROUD of that behaviour ... seriously, grow up !

I know others have already commented on this but i wanted to add in my own opinion here as well.

I have no idea if your trolling or not,but incase your not you might want to consider this. In most relationships there are small things that are more like an internal joke. As an exampel, how she can not learn how to use the stupid coffey machine. He can teach her how to do it but as a joke they keep it going over the years and it becomes one of those small things they dont even think about anymore.
Another posebilety is that she simply makes the coffey different then he does. Mayby she prefers it to be so light it looks like tea, while he prefers it so strong that you need a fork.

But if thats not the case its a really bad habbit to get into. It is true, women are manipulative (and yes im saying this because i am one,i just admit openly that its just how i am) but most try to control it. What your doing is not going to do you any favors exept get you some bad boyfriends that thinks your a complete moron that is only capable of doing one thing (you can guess which one im talking about).

So honestly i doubt that any of the guys reading this post got scared,more...shaking their heads and wondering what on earth made you think that a guy would accept this behavior.
You should also keep in mind that most guys arent as stupid as we pretend to think they are. They KNOW we manipulate, and thats why playing this game with them on a long term basis is not going to end in anything but broken hearts and miserable relationships.

You guys, stop laughing Smile

Just for your info: Yes, you CAN ACTUALLY impress female persons with cooking. Just do it like "Yeah. I know what i am doing, i got this." Seriously. Back in my "wild years" my friends would ask me the same question again and again: "How in the name of all that is holy did you get that (insert name here) in your bed?"

By cooking. Party starts, i am mixing drinks and cooking. Even most basic stuff (like, colored selfmade noodles with selfmade pesto and scampis, baked in ). Worked everytime. Just cook, ignore woman and they will come to you and ask questions and whatnot. In the end, you will get sex.

TLDR:

LEARN TO COOK AND YOU WILL GET LAID.

The reason i learned to cook was by getting laid.....
well hungry in the morning.

Grilling isn't really cooking. It's meat...just don't burn it and you're fine. Marinade it in basic spices and grill it according to taste and voila. The only way to really ruin it is if you put barbecue sauce or ketchup on a perfectly good piece of meat. Too many grill noobs ruin meat that way.

Cooking, on the other hand, is an art. There is a reason Italian food is so good, and that's because it's done with forethought to not just how it tastes, but what it is you're tasting. It's really simple, actually, yet so many people are friggin' inept in cooking it. Whether it be not knowing how to make the pasta al dente and ending up boiling it into glue or using other ingredients out of a jar *shakes head*. I say this because it's the EASIEST food in the world to make, yet people act like it's ******* magic or something; that, or they just add useless crap to it without understanding how something is supposed to taste, i.e., that horrendous dish people call "fettuccine alfredo", which doesn't even exist in Italy.

Someone decided one day, "Hey, let's not use olive oil and parmesan on fresh fettuccine like it's meant to be, let's just dump a bunch of hot cream and pepper and butter on overcooked noodles and call it Italian!" Blech. Certain foods have certain tastes and go with certain things to bring out the flavor as a whole. It's like a painting.

And then you have people who put friggin' jam on spaghetti, and then they wonder why they have the worst culinary reputation in the world.
