I was pursued. BUT HOW?

I was chased in my trusty Iteron 3 in nullsec by a player who wanted to........well......how do I put this ....kill me.
The thing is I was a step ahead of him and jumped from gate to gate just before he got there, I went to a celestial at one stage and he directly followed me.

Can someone please explain how you can follow a player in warp where ever he goes, I'd really like to learn that.

Oh, and I got away Blink

You just watch them as they start warp.

Your warp starts slowly, you can see the direction that a person is warping in as they leave grid. If they warp towards a cluster of planets, it is hard to know which one. If they warp to an isolated celestial it isn't that hard.

As always, to have situational awareness you need to zoom out and / or to "look at" the enemy.

If he landed on the same grid as you, it's not that hard to eye-ball your align , and line up what likely warp to place you went to.

I'm more surprised that you got away tho, he must have been in a slow-to-align brick ship or you had some inertia stab/nanos fitted to be able to get away from him

I thought he had some module that helped him with that, he was very good, even followed me to a planet. At the planet I cloaked and he got to within 50 km of me, but didn't see me, I got going again and had a head start again, thats how I got away, also had good bookmarks.

You got lucky. Next time wait untill he leaves grid before you warp off.

Also good to know: some ships (interceptors, T2 transports) warp very fast. If they see you warping away and follow you they may arrive BEFORE you.

- If he's watching you warp away, he has a good idea where you were warping to.
- Someone good with d-scan can narrow down your location to a handful of celestials in a matter of seconds.
- Never warp to the sun or planet.

Also he could have just guessed. Most people warp to the planet at the top of the list or the sun.

It's very possible for people to follow you. Some people have even made professions out of it. It's essentially what the Interceptor class of ships are supposed to do.

There are several ways for someone to track your location in real time

1. D-scan can be used to pinpoint exactly where your ship is. He doesn't need to have an exact location, but if you are popping up on d-scan and there is only one gate in the direction he is scanning then he knows where you are.

2. You can see where a ship aligns to before they warp.

3. Probes can pinpoint your exact location and provide the ability to warp to you.

Or old overview glitch. I've had ships show as following me through 10+ systems. Change tab, change back and they're gone.

Doesn't mean **** if you're a cloaky warper or in a Frigate with no intention to hang around.

It depends. In HS POS guns won't shoot you for being there. Even in NS and WH it takes a while for them target you so you can generally warp out before being locked.

Most moons have no pos on them. Even if they do, they can only lock after 30 seconds, so just warp.

Depending on your tank, it sometimes help if only one person is chasing you to sit on the gate and let them have a shot, then jump, they will need to wait out their timer. Problem is of course, if they don't aggro, you have lost you few seconds lead.

To the OP, an experienced PVPer can pretty much follow you anywhere. You can see where someone is warping if you are on grid with them as they warp. To lesson the chance of this warp toward a celestial that is in a group of celestials based on your current position. He will have to guess that way.
