The launcher links seem to be pretty broken, at least for me. The Escalation April 24th, 2012 link goes here:

http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3433

Probably not where it should go.

Not really a 'issue' per say, but something I find annoying. When I open a second client, the splash screen always shows up on top of my current open eve screen, blocking the view of whatever I am doing in game. I used to let the second client open in the background so I could log in the details when I had a free moment to do so, as multiple clients tends to make my laptop run a bit hot. Now I have to anticipate how many clients to open and have them waiting in the background, heating up the PC, in case I want to use them without losing visuals on the game during the splash screen loadup.

I've just submitted code to change the way the splash screen works. It now appears over the Launcher wherever the Launcher is, so you can drag it to another screen and it will appear there.

I'm still working on the layering of where it appears though, so for now it will still go to the top of the window layer.

Is the feature of checking to see if a new build is available going to be added or do we have to keep opening and closing to see if a new build is up. Important for testing Sisi.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

It's not in there yet, but it is something we want to add.

Nope. I asked that question when I filed my petition, and got the standard answer that skill points are never reimbursed, "except in very specific circumstances." They also blamed it on the client/router/network, and claimed that only 3% of the user base is affected by launcher problems. Not sure I buy that, given the number of people reporting issues.

3 Problems with the launcher:

1) It takes a very long time between hitting the play button, and eve actually starting (generally with no indication that it is still trying to do so, which means that I often end up with 2 instances running and then have to kill the other)
2) When I exit out of eve, sometimes it starts a new instance of eve
3) The launcher does not go away when you hit play

We're aware of this, and we're actively working on improving the feedback here. The whole point of having a splash screen is to provide feedback to the user that something is happening, and the current implementation isn't sufficient.

I've not experienced this myself, but I'll add it to a list of reported issues and keep my ear to the ground for more information.

You can change that in the Launcher settings.

Would it be possible to add an indicator to the launcher itself that tells the user how many clients are launched or in the process of launching? For me, the biggest issue is the long delay between clicking the Launch button and the appearance of the splash screen. Even an indicator that the Launch button has been pressed (and how many times) would be helpful.

I like the launcher, and the new patching process. Only real nitpick I have is that client-side patches are not integrated into the launcher.

I had that error message launcher crash bug today too, it appeared after my computer froze from EVE crashing (first time it's frozen since I built it). It was broken for a while, but then I fixed it by removing the "launcher" folder from my CCP folder and running repair tool. Found this fix somewhere else on the internet.

Could you elaborate on the "error message launcher crash bug" that you're referring to? It would also be great to get my hands on that directory, so if you've got it in your Recycle Bin is there a chance you could throw it into a .zip file and throw it on the internet somewhere?

As I said before, we're looking into better ways to inform the user. Additionally, the client-side patches that are offered at login, will be migrating over to the Launcher too since there's no reason to have them in the client still.

Glad to hear the thing about the client side patches! Is that happening today (with Escalation) or is it "in the pipeline" (i.e. to be deployed at some time in the future)?

so today while patching my 6 clients, i thought ill try this export/import function

why does the launcher not do a check to see if a patch is in the ' to be imported' list. as it starts to down load and then it restarts patching after you import it.

before this, when the 2nd 3rd etc etc client was patched it would find the saved patch data with no extra steps.

OMG when can i get a pic here

Annnnnd once again on big patch files the launcher just stops downloading them at the same point over and over, and then refuses to restart downloading.

So once again I'm forced to wait for someone from my corp to come online, download the patch, export the patch, upload the patch and post the URL for me because CCP REFUSE to admit the launcher could fail and allow people to to manually download the patch file to import themselves.

The only NONE corp mate I'd download the patch file from would be Chribba because I trust him not to fill it with a trojan virus.

I am now having problems with the launcher that i have never experienced before. As it tries to download/install the patch a message comes up after a while where it says "An error occurred while applying the patch, the launcher will now try to apply the patch safely with raised privilages. OK CANCEL

When pressing OK a small window appears with the text Applying Patch and then after a second or two it a new message comes up which says "Unable to apply patch. It is recomended that you restart your computer and then run the EVE Online launcher again."

I have restarted my computer twice without much sucess. Please tell me what to do to fix this, i need to check on my market orders.

I have the same problem, I have run the repair tool twice already. I now have deleted the downloaded patch file by hand in the eve folder and is running the repair tool again. It ran for about an hour. It seems to reset the client back to before the the last patch was started. The launcher is patched again. It started the patching again in the Launcher. Guess what, the patching is corrupt again. another hour wasted.

I must say I only had a couple of patches done successfully by the new launcher. It generally takes me 2 days of struggeling in the evenings to get eve running after a new patch. I found it a lot easier to do patching manually as I never encountered a problem downloading the patch and running it. That way of patching was removed for no real good reason.

I do not know how to react to the problem. It seems CCP is making no progress with this, I cant play for days on end because I cant patch. I finally get the client working, new patch is out.

I have had only one issue with the new launcher, and it's an odd one.

Twice now (as the launcher has only patched itself twice so far), when the launcher downloaded a patch for itself, guess what opened up after the patching finished? The EVE Launcher, right? Nope! Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which probably wouldn't be so annoying if it didn't take over a minute to get to a point where you can quit the game properly (IE without using CAD). I'm sure this is just an issue of filenames and directories, (since I highly doubt CCP is in any kind of partnership with EA), but it's still quite annoying, not to mention silly. (Note: There is a Launcher.exe in the NFS Hot Pursuit directory, @: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\NFS Hot Pursuit\Launcher.exe)

O RLY? Guess what, I went as far as uninstalling ESET, then uninstalling EVE and then reinstalling it again. Did EvE Launcher magically started working. NO, it DID NOT! I want my money back! I don't care if 99.99% of people love your launcher, it's not working for me, but did I pay the subscription fee? Yup.

Sorry guys, I'm done....
