CCP: Why are you opposed to images on the forums?

Why exactly do you not want images on the forums? I am sure there is a good reason. Just curious as to why.

Also...why can we no longer have images in our signatures? The old forums supported them...why not the new forums?

Even though it was possible to post images on the old forums, mods would always have to make them into links for some reason. So the dislike of images isn't new, just something they stopped making possible in the new forums.

I understand that the dislike isn't new. Even on the old forums we could have images in our sigs though. And without clicking on Roll's link (which I assume could get me fired at work) I understand that some if not a lot of images are not something they want on the forums at all and would require additional work to remove when the occur. But images would be no different than any other rule in that if you post something you shouldnt you would get a ban.

As per signatures, look towards the bottom of my thread regarding signatures. A messiah came from the mountain with several commandments regarding the use of greasemonkey to write a script allowing us to use signatures again.

As for the pictures.....yeeeeeaaah. Nothing like hoping into a thread and seeing that somebody loaded the biggest picture they could find to break the forums with.

Cooooool. Pics in sigs will make me happy. As for the size of a picture...there are ways with most forums to regulate image sizes. I figure it is more of the potential image content and liability of said content but I just want to know why CCP came to the decision to not allow images in the first place. If it really is just content and liability then so be it. It is just a question of curiosity.

It's beyond people abusing it. They could just hand out account wide forum bans to everyone who does, to solve that little problem.

I see you have never been on another forum.

Any forum can deal with the stress of a bunch of images. I've even seen threads sporting several 1080p videos on autoplay, and this was a website using a 2008 server.
