Yet another question, this time regarding skill points.

Sorry for all the questions, just a lot to take in :)

Basically. As a new player what is a good amount of skill points per hour?

Basically wondering how many skill points your likely to get through in a month.

I ask because I think I've missed a trick with the whole remap buisness.

If your trying to squeeze the max out of your training you need a skill plan which you can get with EVE mon.

After that look at the majority of skills you have to train.

Each will have two multipliers for skill atributes, these reduce training time on the skill.
For example
Gunnery
Perception
Will power

Neural remap accordingly. Attribute enhancer Implants are expensive only buy the ones you absolutely need. Or go with cheepos. Most PVE'r will have +4 or +5's in there heads to reduce training time.

Thanks. So I would need to decide on one area and focus on it for a time by the sounds of it.

I've only cybernetics 1 at the moment but having looked a little closer I can working up to 4 would be advantageous. That said I don't think I could afford to lose +4's.

So many chocies! Fun though.

Ok, so basically choose to focus on one aspect and just train the others as required? I think it would make more sense for me to train the electronics/engineering and navigation until I can really figure out what I want to fly.

Just googled Evemon, sound advice. Thanks again.

I've only gotten just over 600k skill point's and I'm half way through my trial. So I'm guessing realistically nearing 2m a month is about right?

I use 2000 SP/hour as the limit of what I consider acceptable. Below 2000 is slow.

SP/hour = ((primary attribute + implant) + (secondary attribute + implant) / 2) * 60

You start with: 20i, 20p, 20m, 20w, 19c which on most skills gives (20 + 20 / 2) * 60 = 1800 SP/hour

max amount is 2700SP/h with +5 implants and optimal remapping making it some 23,6mil SP per year assuming you could keep it optimal all the time for a whole year (364d).

Depends on your attribute maps and what you train.

If I look at my attributes atm with the skills i'm currently training, they aren't optimized. But I remapped on a 1.5 year skillplan which means that with this attributes distribution I take about 1 month off my training plan.

EDIT:

EVE isn't about I have more SP then you have. It's about actual skill to fly a ship properly, skillpoints are just a way to limit you and help you guide through EVE.

A maxed out frigate pilot in a Rifter with 8mil SP can have better skills then a 100mil SP character who never flown a rifter. A frigate for instance has limited skills that contribute towards it, after that all other skills you train doesn't make you fly the frigates better.

I've said this before in another thread, but "missing" a remap in trial or early career is not that much of a problem.
The simple fact is that new players ( not force-fed alts ) will need to train for a lot, and have to jump around pretty much over the whole skillset.
Since they will be training mostly level 1 and at most level 2 skills up to the upgrade points remaps at best shave off a minutes, or at best a couple of hours over the entire run.

This is why I generally advice to set intelligence and perception as aqually and as high as possible if they do remap, since that gives them reasonable scores for the primary attributes of about all the tanking, fitting, ship, weapon, and science skills.
Which is what your average capsuleer needs to train in the first months anyways.

After that you can always remap to something specific since you'll probably need to get stuff to 5, or start training the higher tier skills, where remaps do make a difference. But by then you should have a good idea what you want.

Highsec isn't "Safe".  Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already.

I strongly advise every newbie that I'm helping out not to remap for atleast a few months after starting. This is for two reasons.

First off, as a newbie there's lots of skills you have to train of all types (tanking, support, ships, guns, etc). With next to no SP, you don't have the solid base to use while you focus on a particular skill set, so you're better off being able to train things roughly evenly in all areas.

Second, for the first while into the game you're still learning about how the skill system works and what stuff is or isn't important. Until you know you need an implant (not just think you might), it's better to wait and learn more about the skill system in general (the free newbie remap helps with this, but it's still typically better to wait and learn for the first while)..
