They don't have to hold back any Tech because the amount of moons are to low.

In the moment there is a price run. Those who make reactions and are able to buy early Technetium for the next run, selling their stuff to prices calculated for higher Tech prices. And to get more fire into this race, the investments per tower is at a rate of 2b per tower per week. The amount of pos owners able to finance this race should be shrinking and this causes higher prices.

Sorry, that's nonsense. Technetium is not affected by the cost to run a POS. That would only affect marginal moon minerals like Vanadium or some such.

Every Tech moon pays far more than the cost to run the pos and is exploited every second it's not being actively conquered.

Production is constant. What Akita T and the Goon posters here are saying is that up until now the market has consumed production plus some stockpile surplus. Now the stockpiles are more or less dry so current demand cannot be met from current production, forcing the price up. In addition The Mittani has announced a Tech Cartel to force the prices up even higher.

T2 will be expensive for a while.

I do think though that they may have forced CCP's hand and that we'll see a Tech rebalancing sooner rather than later. But the earliest really is Inferno which will be June/July. And it may well not get rebalanced until December or later.

I guess this initiative of Mittani has of course the purpose to force CCP to do something with the empire and the moongoo.

It could be but I don't think so. Remember he's first and foremost an officer of his alliance, not a pro bono agent for good in Eve. I think he simply wants Goons to make a ton of money and have loads of fun getting blown up in reimburseable ships.

so what. Mittani is mad at ccp? this isn't news.

what could ccp do about it if they chose to? enable moon mining inside wormholes -- which could increase the available volume of moon materials by 50% or more depending on how they seed the minerals and cause prices to dive no matter what the Goons want.

I think there's a few things CCP can do, all of which lead to interesting gameplay.

1) Nerf tech by changing recipes to use different minerals. This is the obvious fix, it's just not very logical that a rarity 32 mineral should control the market so strongly. For example they could make Platinum Technite consume only half as much Technetium to make (eg 50 Technetium, 150 Platinum). Or they could change recipes so that some key recipes use a different reacted product from Platinum Technite.

2) Add more tech moons. This would light a fire under whichever region got them and it's always good to see more fighting.

3) Alchemy. Add tech reactions. Who needs Deklein when you can make Tech in the bath tub with common household products?

4) Leave it. This is particularly possible if they feel there isn't a genuine shortage, it's a shortage manufactured by clever players who were in the right place at the right time. In some ways this is the most interesting option because it makes Eve a King of the Hill type game with the CFC currently sitting on the top of the hill. Would we see a major nullsec coalition form to try to take the north west? Almost certainly at some stage.

It's a risky strategy though because if people feel they can't organise against the Goons we risk seeing people lose heart for null sec gameplay. In King of the Hill games if players know they'll never be King they may stop playing.

as a reminder goonswarm went from penniless space hobos running an alliance on the backs of promises and ratting taxes to the 1t a month behemoth you see today, while the old guard tech alliances (the NC) all lost their space (though our good buddies RAZOR are now back in it)

Simple, just fix alchemy and change 1 of the current useless reactions to tech. It will cap tech and not very difficult to "code"
