Science & Industry

I like mining. I know...it is strange, but I find it very relaxing. I have a tough IRL job, and it is nice to come back to the apartment, grab a drink, and settle in to a very nice laid back atmosphere. I have even considered doing a little fan fiction. I listen to EVE Radio and just chill out. When I want some excitement, I grab my covert ops ship and do some exploration. Presently, I working on getting a freighter then a Pilgrim, then I plan on getting a Roqual, and joining a null sec corp, and do mining and such for them.

Industry isn't nessecarialy a 'better' means of making Isk, but more of a steady income VS. a site runner for example.



I DON'T BELIEVE YOU

Like most of the replies, I like to build things. Perhaps it was all the Lego in my past.

Industry gives me the inner satisfaction of taking a project from tritanium to Tengu, knowing that it was all pulled from the clutches of vacuum ... with not just a little cleverness.

Is it faster to blow up someone's ship, sell the loot, and buy a Tengu? Probably. In that case I have one to sell you. Cost to me? Time and a WH POS.

Best moment: Blasting by a bubble camp out of lowsec in a blockade runner with my first half billion in T3 subsystems. Follow me to Dodixie boys and buy, buy, buy.

P.S.: A check of the kill boards will show that I have provided plenty of sport for the PvPers. It is EvE after all, not kinder care.

I got into mining and manufacturing on this character as my first venture; my skills are quite diverse at this point. I do remember being attracted to it because it seemed like a primarily intellectual activity, and I liked the idea of offering a supporting role in my corporation or alliance. It is certainly (for the most part) an easy and stress-free playstyle, if somewhat non-involved. I think the majority of the vitriol directed towards industrialists revolves around the misconception that we're all AFK, botting, or avoiding interaction with other players - and yeah, some arefood like that. But there is definitely a far more vicious form of pvp going on in competitive markets. I mostly like industry because besides the more competitive aspects of undercutting, gameplay USUALLY doesn't revolve around doing everything in one's power to ruin another player's day and then drinking up that player's frustration like a vampire. To be fair, I find things like Hulkageddon an interesting organized event, and it should encourage complacent miners to proactively think about their ship fits.
My proudest moment is similar to other players': being able to set up a capital ship manufacturing system with friends for my alliance.
As for dealing with the hate, remember that the freedom of Eve allows you to play in whatever style you see fit; screw what others tell you. Do what you find interesting!
