Im quite new to Eve and have over the weeks I’ve been playing become quite fond of the smooth lines of the Amarr ships. I have at the moment got a Augoror and have been trying to make it an “Active Tank” but with little success. Can anyone please suggest a fit out that they have used and had some success with. And if so please remember Im very new to this game and find the short hand language of the more experienced players very confusing.

Cheers

The reason you are having trouble with the Augoror is that it is a terrible ship. You are literally better off in a Coercer then an Augoror.

My advice would be to sell it immediately and buy an Omen, Coercer or an Arbitrator. Ether that or stick to Frigates, it is a bad ship.

Don't do the Omen if you have low fitting and cap skills. Go for frigs, coercer, arbitrator or maller.

Omens terrible but it can handle lvl 2's well at low skill. Arbitrator is only better at around Drones V. Maller on the otherhand is toothless with 3 less drones and no Dmg bonus. Omen can fit and tank fine in comparison.

To be a bit more precise than "Terrible Ship", the augoror is a T1 logistic cruiser not a combat ship. Its meant to supply frontline ships with additional capacitor. Its not meant for direct combat.

The Arbitrator might be a solid choice from a skill training perspective

Basically Drones are the biggest bang for buck skill/weapon system in the long run. Miner? you want Drones. PvE? All 4 races can use Drones. PvP? Warrior II's EC-300's fanastic no matter what race your flying

What the Arbi gives you is a chance to train up Drone skills while directly benifiting your day to day combat in the ship. With Drones 4 the arbi isn't a bad choice, of course its not up to its full potential but sinking 3-5 days into Drones 5 while flying the ship and your suddenly in a great spot. From there you open up the awesome Drone interfacing, which is an extra 20% Drone damage per level, and if you want to take it even futher Scout Drone Operation 5 will give you access to tech 2 drones. (This one though can wait til later in your career)

After the Arbi, then what? Your probably going to jump into a Harbinger. Its a gun boat, but it can also use 5x Medium Drones (or Lights, if your so inclined) you'll be working on your gunnery while flying it, so again skilling and improving for the ship your in at the time.

Finally your going to see yourself in a battleship, and you will absolutely love the fact you got Drones 5, Drone Interfacing 3-4 (hopefully by that point) when those warp scrambling/webbing elite frigates get in close.

TL:DR Arbi is awesome and is an excuse to train awesome drone skills that'll help you during your entire eve career.

I lied :o

If you really love the Augoror's look, you can set up the Navy Augoror to Active Tank (though it is bonused for passive tanking)

I wouldn't recommend it though, as the Maller does almost as well at a fraction of the cost, but the Omen is the best Amarr gun-using cruiser.

Of course, the very best Amarr cruiser is the Arbitrator, which does everything in game very well.

I have only ever seen Augorors flown to provide cap to Ospreys repping a pos shield
