I love how every time the media talks about mining asteroids they go on about the expense of putting astronauts on them. Gravity tugs and robotic mining will minimize human presence and allow us to forego all the costs of training and supporting humans for deep-space mining missions. I think one problem is that people lack the perspective on the time frame of such a project: if we were able to put robotic miners into the asteroid belt, it would take them several years to get there and send back the first product.

So... are they ready for Hulkageddon? Will James Cameron be petitioning a GM to get his Covetor + 2 back?
