Copy pasted from the patch notes for tomorrow..

So does this means that a sieged Dread can now hit this smaller than the moon? In siege ^^ If so I guess there's no need to bring a dedicated webber into e.g. WH sites anymore.. Just some TP and a single unbonussed web.

As far as I'm aware, XL guns are having their tracking nerfed. So no, it'll still be the same.

Titans can now lock a maximum of three targets.
XL turrets have had their signature resolution set to 2000m.
Capital Turrets that are fitted to titans now have a new damage-scaling attribute; targets with a signature radius smaller than this size will take reduced damage from these turrets. This does not apply to dreadnaughts.
Siege modules have had their tracking penalty removed.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Same reason they took out the AOE weapon...People hated it... Well ok the people it was used against. Which is a lot more because of the AOE nature...Screwed themselves.

Wait you lost me, do you mean an additional penalty for titans shooting small sigs on top of the normal effect sig has re tracking?

There should be a rather awesome pic here

actually only titans using xl guns have a tracking nerf and thats not in rads but in sig resi...

so infact dreads are getting a nice boost... they will be the blapping ship of chioce now... but this is cool in ccp eyes since to blap you will have to be in siege mod which makes you extreamly vulnerable...

Ah. Last I heard was they were going to nerf XL tracking and remove the tracking penalty from siege modules. Haven't exactly kept up to date; I don't overly care for super caps.

WTF does this question have to do with Titans?
Go whine somewhere else, no one cares.

Back to the actual question, the tracking is being doubled in siege but the sig radius of the guns is also being doubled.
I'm not that great with the tracking formula but I'm pretty sure that evens out. (I know both numbers are in it.)
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Titans were never meant to be Death Stars. They were originally conceived to essentially be mobile stations. The Titan is supposed to be a support ship with a bite, not something that is deployed in numbers often reaching up to 100 ships.

Will have to check if they re-verted the tracking penalty on the XL guns, after the patch tomorrow.

If not, the patch notes are FUBAR, but I guess that would be no surprise.

Yeah, it's on top of tracking. With the new scaling a smaller ship will still take less damage even if there's zero transverse velocity. Sorta like missiles always hit smaller things softer, even when they're stationary.

That damage scaling property should be in the general tracking formula. Chance to hit scales kwadratic with target radius (since it's a surface) rather than linear as in EvE.
