Haven't you heard the saying, "you can't polish a turd"

IMO they'll never truly strike the right balance in some areas. Especially Capitals and Sov. There will always be an edge the larger alliances can exploit. And therein lies the problem, alliance size!

I reckon one of the biggest and simplest changes that would go a long way in helping balance things would be to cap the maximum head count. Say, 1000, 500 max head count per alliance. This would help balance greatly and may even persuade smaller hi-sec alliances who thought they wouldn't stand a chance move out and take some space, whilst being pretty confident the neighbouring alliance isn't gonna drop a 1500 man fleet on them.

And even the best of diamonds can be ruined if it's not cut properly.

And even the best cut is worthless if the diamond itself is full of flaws, impurities and tainted colour.

QA, I look at you.

honestly, from what I've heard about it, QA has been overworked and understaffed since the contract SNAFU of 2009.

so, instead having a powerblock made of 5 large alliances, you now have a powerblock made of 50 smaller alliances.

artificial limits on EVE don't work. players always find a way around it.

Intriguing factoid : Mythbusters episode 113 : http://mythbustersresults.com/end-with-a-bang
Amused : Apparently, you can.
Hurried addendum : But it takes a lot of work and may be more trouble than it's worth, and it's questionable how much of the initial turdy essence actually remained in place.

I'm excited as hell about rebalancing. We're talking dozens of updates on the database here, something not to be taken lightly. As balancing is done only once every 18 months they gotta make sure it's done right, not at all like those scrubs in other games who rebalance constantly.

Rebalancing is done every 18 months? Not sure if trolling.

Dismayed: Beaten to the reference by Akita T.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

At one point a dev said somewhere that it takes 18 months to balance a single ship. That's why they never do it. Of course that assumes the hatchet method where CCP refuses to do small 1% balance changes every week or two on TQ and seeing if it works. Of course relying on CCP to Iterate™ is a bad bad idea.

And the fact that CCP is so late in the cycle to even start planning... that's just embarrassing. Seriously. Shouldn't that be done like the week before the last one goes live? No wonder CCP promotes based on who can tell the dirtiest jokes... they need people who can keep their teams entertained in the month after month of downtime.

with drf now invading querious it wont be too long before drone cluster federation control all but stainwagon's space (though that will be next) in null sec.

null sec will then be full of goon and drf bots at that point.

drf will get mad cos noone else is left playing eve online to buy their isk so they can pay their morgages and send their kids to college.

drf will then turn on goons then finally on themselves.

even if the winter expansion fixes some issues it wont fix the more serious issues. unless ccp grows balls and starts to banning whole corps or alliances that allow or encourage botting, eve online wont be around much longer if ccp continue to ignore the current level of botting.

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

Diamond? more like semi-warm bullcookies. Signs of real change..AUR removed from the game...new ship designs showing up on the test server..resetting nullsec before the truesec nerf. Those are just 3 major things that would show CCP was for real there are others to numerous to list but yea.IMO the only things we'll see from CCP just in time for the shopping season is some short of stupid hat and another round of nerfs to further shove eve into the crapper of history of broken mmo's.Oops

The Stig would have intentionally run off the track and into a wall, repeatedly, while strapped to a pair of NOS canisters instead of continuing to be associated with CCP.

Don't cheapen The Stig by making terrible associations.
