Player #2 is in a non tanked, mining hulk without an escort and mining AFK.

Just because the actual combat happens today, does not mean the decisions both players made that put them in that scenario was not a good example of player versus player interaction.

Worse arguement ever.

A tanked Hulk merely stops 1 Dessi killing you. as for an escort, I've yet to see a Hulk get repped out of alpha. Would be nice if people who chipped in on ever hulk killing thread were honest.

Is it pvp? Sort of. Is it worthwhile? No, not really. Will it ever stop? No why would fail pvp'ers stop padding kill boards. People that Gank for profit kill Tengu bots, as the loot is much more rewarding. Killing hulks is the same as walking into a preschool class room with a baseball bat and swinging away at "your enemies".

It is however preventable, and I have little to no care for the tears of a miner that does not at lease fit a DCU II and a buffer tank. Its not like miners don't know they are targets for the fail. Also failing in your fitting is not, nor will it ever be a reason for hulks to be buffed.

So unless CCP decided Miners need putting on the endangered list and give Hulks the LSE II that forces gankers to use 3 Nados, every miner should learn to use Dscan and a buffer tank. At the very lease, they gankers will scan you and move on to the idiots still fitting C-type shield boosters.

Don't ask about Italics, just tilt your head.

It is pvp. Nothing wrong with it either, apart from the f***wits who brag about it. Just one rung up the ladder from fightclubbing imo.

I approve of suicide-ganking as a tool to keep idiocy in check. if a Hulk without even a damage control get suicide ganked, I'll applaud. If a faction BS with a 10b fit, or an afk industrial with an expensive cargo get the same treatment, I like it.

But, while suicide ganking is technically pvp, it manage to remove the very meaning of it. The essence of pvp is to measure yourself against other players, to prove to yourself (or others, if Epeen is a motivation to you) that you are more skilled, smarter, more dangerous. That you are the king of the jungle, so to speak. From that point of view, suicide-ganking is only a form of income and doesn't deserve to be called pvp.

To a pirate, the "essence of PvP" is to kill other players ships and take their stuff. From that point of view, suicide ganking is definitely PvP

PS Hulks often drop T2 strip miners, and you can salvage T2 armour plates from the wreck. Just FYI.

Technically, yes.

Personally, I would take the 'versus' to imply some kind of combat.

I've done a couple of miner ganks early on in my eve career. With those guys it was just some PvE'ers who wanted a thrill and the taste of blood in their mouth. I didn't enjoy it much, but my corpies were getting bored of running their L4's.

It made them PvP'ers the way wearing a football shirt makes you a sportsman, or bullying the fat kid in school makes you one of the top boys.

Other actual PvP'ers I know gank miners to fund their PvP habit, and having good PvP skills helps their profit margin.

But that's more like farming. Mining the miners.

They wouldn't consider it PvP. But maybe some Darwinian proof.

That man is the noblest creature may be inferred from the fact that no other creature has contested his claim.

I'd say that if you're out to get their stuff, deny them access to the rocks, enforcing a protection racket, encourage sales of your product, or any other economic scheme you can come up with, then yes it's PvP.

If it's tear farming, then it's just farming. Eve's a sold as being a dangerous place where people will take your lollipop just to hear you cry. Like it or hate it, it is part of the game.

If the goal is the thrill of the hunt, or just padding your killboard, then it's just lame players showing their stripes.

No it isn't.

Suicide ganking's closest RL equivalent is a terrorist attack......even down to it's involuntary nature on the receiving end.

This thread has run its course and is now degrading into just trolling, all arguments are exchanged forth and back.
