Greetings new Capsuleers,

I would just like to inform you all that MMOGames.com has just recently published the first part in a new series of video and text guides for EVE Online. The series will progress from the early stages of a new pilot's life to covering the more niche and targeted areas of gameplay. Hopefully this well help you guys (and girls) to face the challenges that EVE presents early on.

Feel free to check out the video and provide us with feedback! If you like it, have friends who are having trouble, feel free to share it with them. Have questions you would like answered in future episodes? Be sure to ask below and we will do our best to cover them.

The video that this links to is a great guide. I would certainly recommend it to new players.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

I like it, its neat, well written and succinct.

A lot of the time I think the largest turn off to Eve isn't the information itself but the sheer mass of it. We take it for granted now but information overload is the bane of the NPE. This guide does a lot to cut through the chaff and give some definitive if not admittedly elementary information. I look forward to more parts.

Also, a suggestion would be to mention this at the Eve University forums as I am sure there would be a lot of people there who would love to read this guide.

"Gallente: Gallente ships also begin with Hybrid Turrets, and tend to continue using them as their main focus is drones (small automated ships that fulfil a variety of roles). They use a combination of shields and armour for defence."

"They use a combination of shields and armour for defence."

Unfuck this part of the written guide immediately.

Gallente use active armor or armor buffer tanks.

I sure as **** dont want to see people starting gallente characters and trying to shield tank there ships. Especially if they dont know what there doing.

Yes there are gank boats, and the passive myrmidon. But these are noobies reading these guides let them fit there ships the way they were meant to be fitted before they start to wander off into the ethers. Theres enough **** fitting as it is among new folk.

Otherwise thank you for this effort looks pretty polished.

The only thing wrong about it is that for the newbie it suggest a combination of both.

But it is definitely true there are a ton of Gallente ships flying around with shield tanks, using shield extenders instead of armor to keep a low mass and use the lowslots for damagemods instead of a tank. In fact, that's how most Talos and plenty of Ishtars are fitted at the moment.

Operation WRITE DOWN ALL THE THINGS!!!  Check out the list at http://bit.ly/wdatt Collecting and compiling all fixes and ideas for EVE. Looking for more editors!

Yeah it probably should have been explained more clearly, i'll have it refined and cleared up.

Thanks for the feedback guys, honestly if there is anything you see in the articles that could be adjusted or changed to be more clear, throw a suggestion back. The goal really is to have a collaboration of works that people can unanimously agree that the information presented is relevant and helpful, we want to get new players on the right path with the right information on hand that will help them take their face-dive off "the cliff".

Part 3 has been uploaded, the first post has been updated with the new links. This episode discusses choosing a focus from the various "paths" or "roles" that CCP has illustrated on their site.

And thanks Wolfgang for the idea of posting on EVE Uni, honestly never thought to post there.

Although less factually terrible than the ISK guide (thank god that one is gone now), I still wouldn't recommend it to a new player. I really don't get why all the self-proclaimed guides start with "EVE is hard. You will need years to understand it." Yours seems to reinforce this idea over and over, to the point that it discourages me, a three year veteran, from playing. Shouldn't the very purpose of a guide be to make things simple and easy to understand?

Also, Amaar. What the heck is an Amaar?
