Hey folks, just a quick question about the origins of this popular "trend" of sorts

Where did this originate from? Did it begin with killing mining bots and eventually spiraled down to killing any and all (if the opportunity arose) miners in high sec

Also, why is this done? for amusement? From what I understand of EVE, don't miners make mineral prices go down? Which then leads to more PVP because we all can get ships

Thanks for the replies.

at the simplest, most basic level, it's the same as Everest--Because you're there.

A combination of getting rid of bots and just for entertainment currently. Don't remember how it started.

Think Serbs in Bosnia. Carebears are scum. They constantly whine "vote" for a safer highsec. This makes them undesirable. CCP listens, because there are simply too many of them. Repeatedly threatening and ganking a miner (especially younger ones) sometimes makes them give up and cancel subscription. This silences their whines forever, and New Eden becomes a better place for the rest of us to live.

Simple as that.

The same could be said about gankbears (and yes,, you are BEARS) being scum, and you constantly whine for more easy kills..

grow a set of ******* balls and go shoot something that shoots back you coward

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Because stupid is as stupid does.

Anyway, there are thousands of things to do besides mining during H'geddon. It's really not that big of a deal.

That's a pretty low standard if you consider that tears.........

See when I think tears... I think a tech 3 cruiser kill thats worth a billion isk as viable tears to soak up and enjoy. But high sec miners? It's like an earlier poster mentioned..

Freighter kill = skill.
Mining boat = ???

Your right, there is quite a bit of things to do.. but this expands well beyond Hulkageddon..

I see people in local killing miners quite a bit when I'm traveling through high sec doing my daily tasks. It just seems extremely counterproductive to kill people that help us.

From all of this, this seems like a classic case of inability to adapt.

I don't see how going out of your way to kill miners for "ethnic cleansing", ect ect is going to help this game at all. With the upcoming changes, wouldn't that encourage mining corporations to actually look for security so they can venture into said high risk areas? Wouldn't that bring back these so called "old ways" you individuals long for?

Why not just let the game take its course and stop trying to force a playstyle on people that don't want to play like that? Why not let the changes made give people the option to do exactly what you want them to do instead of discouraging them to play the game at all?

Wow, CCP should be lucky to have persons taking care of unwanted paying customers. Wish i had some of these in my business, so i can earn less. Ugh

Wouldn't you say it's rightly so?

I can't really say I really care how they feel per-say.. but I just REALLY wish to understand why this is being done.. it seems to hurt the gankers as much as it does the carebears..

So why do it?

Some will do it just for the tears but there is more to it.

A lot of the big organized industrial ganking, ie hulkageddon and Burn Jita are nothing more than market manipulation and or scams.

Both those two are organized by groups who have a vested interest in the death of industrials, mostly because at heart they are industrialists with huge mining ops at work with big shiny well researched bpo's of whatever is being targeted the most.

Some buy into the whole kill industry make everyone cry malarky, but all there doing is handing bigger profits to different people.

On another note... cyber-bullying is being wrongly used. If you want to ***** about that subject use it right cyber-bullying is an act between two adolescents, cyber harassment is between adults (yes its irrelevant to mental age)

The ones ganking miners in high security space are most definitely carebears.

Shooting a mining ship is even LESS dangerous than shooting an NPC rat.

LOL @ PVP IS ALL ABOUT RISK!
