The simple answer is, you shouldn't. Not on that toon. If this is your first account than honestly you shouldn't period, solo pvp is not easy and you need to know what to do and where to turn at every corner. The most effective solo pvpers also rely on fleet boosters and scouts, some times even blockade runners to feed them ammo and boosters.

...and the best way to learn is by diving in and losing stuff that you can afford to lose. Pick a ship fit you can lose 10 of, and shoot stuff until you run out of ships and cash. Go do whatever it is you do to get more isk and start over. When you're done you'll know far better what you're doing than most people.

Some people have a very loose definition of the term "solo".

If you are soloing you are way better off to go with the Shield Gank Cane. Use the pretty much standard fit of 425mm's with dual med neuts and TE's & gyros in the lows.

The dual med neuts will almost always take care of any tackle frigs assuming you stagger your neuts. It's far too blobby out there these days to try and solo in a armor BC that requires you to be in scram range. Almost every fight anymore is bait for a gank gang. You will lose a ton of ships if you have to go into scram range & don't have GTFO ability.

Besides that you don't want to have to dock up at after every fight to repair your armor damage.

Discuss possible ships + fits? No shiny fits plz
Btw, already looked at battleclinic.

If you want to solo, you don't want to scare people. You want them to think you are killable and actually engage.

I personally like setting up an anti-frig Osprey or Bellicose. They used to be FANTASTIC at killing AFs before the AF change. AFs are much more difficult now since they are all kiters now and don't get into web/neut range. A TD thrasher is also a lot of fun. I've used them to kill EAFs and small frig gangs. Those fights are much harder to find, but are a blast when you find them.

Once you get good, then switch to a nano-drake or nano-hurricane and try to fight 10-20v1 killing off tacklers and running away. I'm still not there yet, but I've seen corp mates regulary fight 15+ to 1 in a drake, kill stuff, and live.

Er.. I killed a shield solo cane with my armor cane and so far my cane losses has been gatecamp, station blob, jumping into a system with barely any health (was going to pos for reps). I also popped a tornado :3
