This is pretty much the unabridged text of the petition I've created. Maybe someone can give some quick advice.

I would like to start by mentioning that I've done the pingplotter traceroute test and all was fine (i.e. no times bigger than 120ms and no timeouts) and that I've attached my DxDiag file.

So, my problem is that whenever I start the game and log in, I can play for about 2-3 minutes, all being fine, but afterwards parts of the UI (such as agent conversation boxes) become unresponsive, and in approx. 10 seconds I kicked to the login screen, without any error message of any description.

It would be worth knowing that this issue appeared this morning (27.09.2011) and that last night I was able to play for several hours without any problem.

Also, I have checked that the game is patched to the last version by downloading both the patch and the autopatch tool and running them.

Here is the DxDiag file content.

The symptoms you are experiencing (the interface becoming unresponsive before the client closes and returns to the log in screen) are typical for the client losing its connection. That this started to happen more or less suddenly without any other changes does indicate that there may be an issue along the route, or something that your ISP implemented and which is now somehow interfering with the connection. If the problem persists and there aren't any visible drops in players connected (check the lower right of www.eveonline.com for a graph), then the issue is likely to be localized, and I can only suggest to contact your ISP as well in such cases.

Have you tried forwarding port 26000? solve my random dc issues. For a guide for most routers check http://portforward.com/

This should not be necessary. As your client initiates the connection, your router is anticipating a response and keeps that port open for purposes of receiving that response. This is how services such as hamachi bypass firewalls. They initiate the connection clientside and run it through a secondary server so both clients initiate the connection.

If your router requires you to forward a port for eve to work, you need a new router or you need to turn down your routers firewall a bit so it stops blocking internal requests Big smile

As for OP, sounds like a local line problem to me, but eve client traffic has been falsely identified as torrent traffic and blocked at the ISP level before.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me.

I have looked before for a thread on this problem and never seem to have found one. So although I am not on a trial account I'm posting here.

I too have been having problems with the connection to the server being closed at random. I even bought a new router and reinstalled EVE. It helped a bit but the problem persists and try as I might I can see no solution to the problem. It maybe that Sir Substance has the right of it and the traffic has been misidentified as torrent traffic, though having said that at the speed at which my broadband? works it would be a very patient person who even attempted to use a torrent to download anything. I'll have a word with my ISP and see if they have any thoughts.

I have had this happen to me on occasion in the past with other games. If you haven't done so already, I'd suggest two things to try:

1. Reset your router/cable modem/DSL. Easily done. Shut your system down, then disconnect power to the router/CM/DSL for about 1-2 minutes. Reconnect power, let the box set itself back up (once all the front lights go back to acting normal), then restart your system and try again. If the problem still persists...

2. If you use a software based firewall, try to reset it back to default. If you use the Windows Firewall in XP (not familiar with how to do it with other OS's or third-party firewalls), open a command prompt window (Start - Run - Type CMD - OK) and then type:

netsh firewall reset

Once that completes, close that window and try the game again. This does not shut down the firewall at all...It clears out the white/black list , meaning you might have to deal with a number of Block/Unblock windows for a bit. Alternatively, you can disable said firewall for a couple moments to make sure that is not what is causing the problem.

Not an expert, but just a couple things that have worked for me in the past when I had similar problems.

THe new antivurus features to scan web traffic can shut down too. They esentially reroute your traffic through their servers to scan the traffic. They are very thorough but cut my speed by half and sometimes just quit working so I disable scanning web traffic.

That said it sounds local to me too. I had a damaged line from a car wreck that moved in the wind. ISP hooked a machine up and figured it right out.

quick question

Are you connecting to your router via wireless?

if no check your cable - a damaged cable can create poor connectivty

if yes is there more than one wifi signal with decent quality in range of your computer?

if no check to see if u have thick concrete walls between the router and computer which degrades your signal

if yes do a scan of the other wifi networks to see what frequency channels they are using and change your wifi frequency to something that is not the same as the other ones... too many routers broadcasting the same channel frequency will interfere with each other and thus degrade signal quality.

example your router uses channel 6 and there is two other neighbouring wifi in range ... one uses channel 11 but the other uses channel 6 also.... change your router to use channel 9. then none will interfere with each other

i have 4 wireless routers to give 100% coverage to the house and office out back. all 4 wifi channels are set differently but also there is 3 other neighbouring wifi signals in range too.... my 4 channels are set differently of each other and the neighbours

mine are channels 1, 2, 3, & 4 my neighbours is 6, 8, and 11

since i did these changes my wifi signals remain pretty solid
