Hey all,

I read the wiki but i still have a question that eludes me;
How long do launched, unachored cans last?

For example if i launch a giant secure can inside a pos shield for storage, how long should i expect it to last?

The wiki suggests 30 days for anchored cans but no typical time for launched unanchored ones.

Items within Maximum Structure Distance of a control tower are never removed (large: 50 km, medium: 41.22 km, small: 35 km)

The Starbase Factor

To avoid disrupting logistics as much as possible, we decided to give Starbases a protective field from all Fedos, Dustmen and other factors which might remove your stuff. This means that both generic junk as well as the anchorable containers will not be removed if left in close proximity to Starbases. This is regardless of who owns the item, but keep in mind that leaving things outside enemy Starbases is probably not a good way to safeguard them and their content. This setup should allow for most heavily used item caches to remain useful, hidden caches will have to be maintained and abandoned caches will leave the game freeing up resources for us all.

Except for that special case, unanchored containers last 2 hours just like jetcans.

Not true. Read the above again.

I've tested this myself with an un-anchored GSC floating in my POS for months.

I said except for that special case about POS.

i.e. when not near POS they only last 2 hours.

(OP wasn't asking only when near POS so I decided to mention this also.)

Apologies. I misunderstood.

I thought you were stating un-anchored containers were an exception to the POS proximity feature.
