Why have they been turned off? They were the awesome to the ship...?

I guess due to engine trails.. but this will not do.
Someone once said I was a muppet. If that's so, I'm quite sure the Swedish Chef is my brother.

Likely engine trails. The Thorax hull has three boosters on the nose that were turned off on all variants due to them constantly clipping into the hull when pulling upward.

I wish the glow was added without the trail for the odd engines out, but maybe they may have some hull tweaks planed in the distant future.

Would/should have been easy enough to turn these on if (then statement in code) trails off, or off is trails on... but I guess that didn't appeal to the devs when doing this... off in all circumstances.

I have noticed that alot of things are a little buggy or off atm... I hope we will see these addressed prior to launch or shortly after, see they need bug hunters is not making me think this will be a bug free launch, so I for one and mentally preparing for...

Arrrrrrghhh!!!!... *facepalms*...sigh.. ok that is not right... but the missiles are cool... ARRRRRRRRRGHHHH!!!!... smoke in space... LAG!!!.. ugh... *flop*...

And I just notice that of the 3 exhausts it has.. only 2 on the backside actually have the glow coming out :<

Trails are also in their infancy. The dev who made I think CCP mankiller said there was a lot more that could be done with them: Animation, light absorption, refraction, etc. Maybe hes been working on the new missile trails.

I like the look of the Griffin but those side-thruster were just ridiculous.

Fine, but then just give the kitsune/Griffin a flippin remodel so there aren't any exhausts on the side...

Yeah, I remember reading that. I really hope he gets to work on the engine trails again.

That I fully agree with. But the thrusters on the side just made it a bit "quirky cool" but now it has nothing going for it.
