Raven will be remodelled, it has been done allready but the final project wasn't approved for release (free time project of one dev), I imagine the dev went back to the drawingboard, cause he is fearless

All ships will be reskinned by winter.

Oh and by the way, if you touch the Apoc, not even the lord himself will guard you from my wrath.

CCP...touch the Apoc. I want to see said wrath. I bet it involves unicorns and skittles.

I think the Imicus looks a bit odd.
I don't think many people use it though, so it's a bit of a waste of time re-skinning it.

The new models and skins seem to have no real connection to the original lore or design ideas (just like the new character models compared to the old ones). I really hope they stop remodelling stuff till they find someone that's actually good at it, and use their resources for something more important instead.

I thought the new scorp model was pretty good.
They aren't that bad at it.

Pretty sure I heard them say somewhere months ago that the Raven was gonna get looked at because it was so bad.

It's a nice model but not really in line with Caldari design, apart from that it's too obvious; "ship name is Scorpion, lets be highly original and make it look like a scorpion OLOL". Also, the "red" on the Widow is the wrong type of red for Kaalakiota designs.

The new Maller model is decent enough I guess, but the colouring is all wrong for all the ships that use that model.

Excuses are the refuge of the weak.

i liked the old maller design

i thought the ethos of amar ship design was smooth curves

the new maller looks more akin to a minmatar design with sharp and spiky edges all over it

in my opinion, while they did a good job on the reskin, i wish they stuck to the already set in stone 'design philosophies' of each race.

also, the scorpion was a good remodel job, the old design was terrible, it was basically two parts of a ship connected at the rear by a very tiny tube... it looked like it would snap if a rifer bumped it.

COME AT ME BRO

I disliked the old one a lot and bought a Sac the moment we had the new skin .. and anyway I think CCP could have made the faction ships have a more unique style. All factions having asymmetrical ships is lousy to start with, and why not make all Amarr ships not look more birdlike, for instance?! There's really some weird ship designs around.

I hope the Moa model gets a revamp, perhaps I'll fly an Onyx then.
I believe it got by far the most votes in the "ugliest EVE ship" contest! P

This has been happening since Trinity. Although the very original models were much lower-res in comparison to the ones we have today, they were more distinctive and different from each other.

I remember being a bit disappointed with Trinity in that, while the new models looked fantastic in and of themselves, they had lost some of their racial distinctiveness. Gallente looked less organic, Amarr looked less fetishistically smooth, etc. Everything was sort of "Caldarified" - had extra meaningless window lights placed everywhere, and lots of bits of techy looking things stuck here and there.

Same process has gone on with the character avatars. The original character avatars and clothing/accessories were weird and wonderful. The new character avatars and clothing/accessories, while fantastic looking in and of themselves, are blander.

CCP seems determined to push the design aesthetic of EVE in the direction of "bland, generic movie-style s-f".

The air of mystery that the original character/ships designs had, has been replaced by something the mind can immediately relate to any average s-f film of today.

That seems deliberate, but to my mind it's actually a loss of depth to the game - a loss of space for the mind to imagine, and thereby become more immersed.

Vexor hull too come to think of it.

Agree on Domi and Apoc, disagree on Vexor.

Also, the Tempest needs it really badly.

Lets face facts, it'l be another of the useless ships that nobody uses, probably the caracal model or some ****. Nobody used to fly scorpions because they were coffins, nobody used to fly mallers because they were lame. Oh how fickle the eve player base is, ships becoming popular solely based on looks...

Those three all look really good.

I suppose if you like looking a giant baked potatoes, then the Dominix is OK!

I like the Onyx personally, but it's not solely based on aesthetics, the utility of the ship itself makes me more apt to appreciate or at least grow accustomed to its ugly duckling look.

TBH, I adored the old Typhoon hull with all the dangly bits and whatnot, it looked like it had crawled out of hell and left a few pieces along the way, gave it a very... hellish appearance in general. Was sort of disappointed when CCP smoothed it out a bit, now it really DOES look like a flying trash can.
