What would you do if you lost 80% of your wealth gambling?

This happened to me, I thought it would be a nice idea to double my 12b ISK instead I lost most of it. Then I quit for over a month before I even claimed the 20% I had won. Thankfully, I'm being helped with recovering that 20% now that I'm back.

I'm not sure what I want to do in EVE but I've never tried manufacturing, I think I'm going to try that.

But because of this and perhaps prior to this I was losing attachment to ISK, though obviously not that much because it made me quit. But now that I've lost so much regaining it seems almost silly. Plus, people are making hundreds of billions doing Incursions which makes it seem pointless to try and amass anything as it's petty in comparison and I don't like grinding.

Better question is probably what did or could rekindle your passion for EVE?

Make more ISK and gamble it, you're bound to have a good luck turn after that.

You just have to make one more bet, and you'll get it all back. Go for it!

Make more isk, spend it on ships, go get blown up.

Having floating ISK at present is probably a bag thing because it is being de-valued by the ISK-faucet that is Incursions.

Your best option, if making ISK is you end-game or goal, is probably some wise investment on the market.

It's a bit of a black art but I'd advise starting small by looking to make small gains with a few mil to play with and work up from there.

Don't fly/gamble what you cannot afford to lose.

From personal experience, having less money actually makes the game more fun.

I used to make a lot of ISK by playing the markets, but at some point, I got burned out. Now, after years of PLEXing and buying nice stuff, I have a cash net worth of only a few billion ISK. I do, however, have plenty of stuff to kill people with. ISK has lost its meaning to me. It's something I only think about when I need to make a purchase, and don't have enough in my wallet to actually cover it. Rolling on twelve figures is no longer something you think about when you realize that you won't continue to play the game after it's no longer fun. I've been playing for about eight years.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

ding ding ding. Needing to make isk is a good drive, having so much isk you wouldn't know wtf to do with it means you're mostly just bored or start doing stupid stuff after which you cringe when it (obviously) goes wrong.

That's why I try to explain to newbies that buying/selling a plex when starting this game generally is a bad thing to do.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

If you can make one heap of all your winnings,
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss,
../..
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And, which is more, you’ll be a man, my son.

Extracts from "If" by Kipling.

Grind for your fortune and gamble it again.
Do it again if it fails.

I have lost all my wallet a month ago.
Making my ISK back was much more fun than expected.

Never fly what you can't afford to lose also applies to gambling. Never gamble with what you would not be willing to lose.

If you do... you should probably seek help.

Is that you Gaiden?

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

Yes.

Please inform me what table you will be sitting at in EOH poker prior to losing all your wealth a second time winning everything you lost back.

Can I get an 'AMEN!' here..?
I found myself temporarily well-off enoguh that I've not been worried about where my next batch of ammo is coming from, and for the last few weeks, I've been kinda bumming about, not doing much. OK, so I've trained a few skills, but the hunger is missing. Think I'll go lose a few more bombers, maybe get a few KMs too, and see if the ol' desperate hunger comes back.
