So, I have this ultimate carebear goal for this character to have a moderately pimped mission ship in each empire region, with the aim to bounce around high-sec working on my faction standings and progressing slowly towards +5 standings for each of the major factions.

So I what I'd like to know, is if you had it your way, what ship would you set up in each area, that would give optimum performance against the local pirates which you would commonly run into in Level 4 missions? The idea is also to add a bit of variety to gameplay, so no doubling up (i.e. Rattler for both Gallente and Caldari space). And no Strat Cruisers, my body is just not ready. Marauders/Faction ships are fine. Assume skills are not an issue.

Probably something like:
Amarr: Paladin
Caldari: Tengu
Gal: Kronos, Vindi
Min: Mach, Vargur

There's no way I could stand grinding missions like that though, I find missions just as soul-sucking as mining.

90% of the time I'll be studying or typing while missioning - more of a means to an end than anything else, really. Thanks for the response.

Caldari: Tengu

Min: Mach

Amarr: Nightmare

Gallente: Vindi

Ya know reading the boards and all the "Tengu Tengu" I have a bad feeling that the nerfbat is going to swing fairly soon. The disparity is getting too obvious.

Caldari: CNR or Mach or Rattlesnake (something with high sensor strength, fast lock times, and/or sentry drones to help with jamming)
Gallente: Kronos or Mach (or Vindi?)
Amarr: Paladin or Nightmare
Minnie: Mach or Vargur

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Really I think machariel is best for anything where you can use the close range focused Therm, EM, and Explosive ammo. For kinetic just use something Caldari (tengu is nice).

Personally I just use a Tengu because it's a little cheaper than a pimped mach.

Mini: Autocannon Shield Machariel/maelstrom (very high close range dps for mini mobs but can still reach out to the few far ones)
Gallente: I don't have a ton of experiances with serpentise
caldari: definently a drone boat, prob an armor one with heavy damage sentry drones, i would avoid missioning here though caldari mobs SUCK to farm
ammar: abbadon all the way, T2 pulse lasers, scortch conflag delicious <3

dont forget the other empires and their ships, for keeping it real:

e.g.

Stain: Nightmare
Venal: Rattlesnake
Fountain: Vindicator
Curse: Macharial
Delve: Bhaalgorn

Khanid and Thukker etc. have also their own ships...

That would be the cheap option - if a bit boring. Trying to get some variety between the ships and playstyle too.

1.) Buy cheap battleship for each weapon type and pickup some post-it notes next time you're out.
2.) Record each type of weapon system firing draw your different weapon systems, on seperate post-it notes, optionally with module on/off states, and possibly with different cycle-timer visuals in flip-book form.
3.) Fly whatever ship is best for the mission, and play the recording for some other weapon system while making use of your post-it module substitutes so it's just like you are really flying something else.

Extra Credit:

Get a glass screen monitor, a bunch of different color dry erase markers, and some Popsicle sticks. Tape the markers onto the popsicle sticks so they all write at the same time. Draw your own laser rainbow to complete your laser-ship effects.
