Drone problems

ive been using drones for some time now, but just yesterday i noticed that the drones no longer had the green square around them in space, they still appear in the overview, just not in space, which is a hassle because i don't know if they've decided to go idle again without looking at the drone box
and today i found this had spread to ships that are in the same corp/fleet as me,
my question is, did i accidentally turn something off?
ive checked that drones are still on in the graphics settings, and ive tried repairing eve, but no luck

Overview settings -> States -> check "Corp members"

it was already checked, i checked a few other things to do with corp members, no change

Ah the fun of starting with eve and trying to wrap your head around the infinite little settings that make your mind boggle.

Long since past those days are, but still, fond memories of being fresh and new.

I've played for a couple years, and all the stupidly-placed menu options that automatically **** with your overview without a confirmation dialogue still destroy my settings on a regular basis. I'd go so far as to say that the UI is the hardest enemy in the game, or at least harder to fight than NPCs or other players.
