The best hockey game in the history of the sport took place in September 1972 between Team Canada and the USSR national team. The series was tied 3-3-1. The game was tied 5-5. With 34 seconds remaining, Paul Henderson scored the winning goal for Canada, thus preventing a mass national suicide.

Was it the semi final game between Canada and the Czech Republic game that ended in a shoot out? That looks like the only major game that went into overtime in 1998.

It was the above or the 13th place game between Japan and Austria >.<
