Will I have to do blob warfare in Null Sec?

I would like to join a corp in null sec, but I think blob warfare is completely dull.

It seems that eventually in null you'll get blobbed and need to blob yourself to survive. My ideal gang size in 4-5 ships as this is more interesting to me. Is it possible to have a corp thrive and succeed in null sec without needing to adopt blob style tatics?

This

You will still run into the 20-30 man gangs though so most of the targets you can engage will be the random loner or so, not much fun there.

Forgive my noobness, but is NPC Null any different that regular null?

A tight team of capsuleers can and will make a name for itself. You can and will strive for as long you do not stubbornly decide to settle for that one station in that one system. It makes you predictable and an easy target. You don't want to be that... Blobs are real and they will get to you sooner or later. A blob being a blob, engage them on their term and they will crush you with extreme prejudice. No question asked... Instead, engage on _your_ terms and don't leave any room for luck might get you to victories worthy of an opera.

It knows what you think.

Join Faction Warefare and get happy. You can also find blobs in Faction Warefare but 1st nobody forces you to join a blob fleet on your side and 2nd due to lack of warp bubbles in low-sec it is much easier to avoid / run-away from enemy blobs. So if you don't like blobs you can completly focus on small scale PVP by hunting mission or plex runners as defense or by actively plex in enemy space to drag attention and get fights as ofensive action.

Depending on what you are looking for, you should consider low-sec piracy, faction war, RvB, WH-space, and NPC null. You should avoid sov 0.0.

In Null, enormous blob fights occur over sovereignity (wanted for e-peen or industrial/logistical reasons).
In NPC Null, eg. Syndicate, sov is not possible to be won by player alliances so there aint that kind of high-stakes giant blobs.
Fighting is more just for fun, so you get small gangs or smaller blobs (yes still blobs as it is human nature).
But usually not giant blobs as there isn't enough incentive for it.

High Sec: CONCORD Means that PvP is limited to sanctioned warfare and suicide ganking.

Low Sec: Several major PvP mechanics are disabled (Bubbles) or discouraged (pain in the arse to get caps up there).

NPC-owned 0.0: All PvP mechanics are enabled, but as stations are NPC-owned there is a place to retreat. Infrastructure to build and maintain capital fleets is sparse enough that they're somewhat nontrivial to get off the ground.

Player-owned 0.0: The high resource costs of sovereignty mechanics and the fact that there's nowhere to retreat outside of your own space (a massive defenders' advantage) makes capital-cored blobs a necessity for any fleet action intended to accomplish more than just harassing people.

You might consider moving to a w-space system instead. All mechanics are enabled, so you can bubble and so on, but capital and blob presence is limited by the potential for wormhole collapse.

Blobs are anywhere and everywhere... Just pick your fights wisely and always expect to be outnumbered. Some people honor 1v1's but many more don't.

you get used to it :\

Blobs can occur virtually anywhere. Some areas attract more blobs than others. Blob territory is player sov where the 1000+ man corps fight over systems. NPC space sees less blobs but you can still expect them to happen. Mostly when two small gangs get into a fight and start calling for backup if it's availible or when people want to get easy kill mails.

if you die to a blob because of a bubble, you're basically a moron.

Not to get metaphysical...but what is a blob? Is it 5:1 odds? Is it 30 guys vs 10? 20 vs 20? 100 a side? 100+?

In nullsec, sov or otherwise, it is not unusual to see fleets of 20-50 roaming around. If that qualifies as blob, you need to try wormholes, because in NPC nullsec you still get fleets of that level or higher.

I can't quote exactly how blobby wormholes get (the largest fights I've seen on killmails are nowadays topping 250 a side) but usually it is less blobby than everywhere except lowsec and hisec. Though, in hisec, various mechanics increase the level of floppy donkey wang in the general vicinity of PVP, so it's not like you need a hundred guys to make a fight turn pointless and unsatifying.

Seeing more than 10 people in a fleet in w-space is unusual. I won't say we will never see 1000 a side combat in w-space (the current AAA push into C5's could do that) but it's not like every day you face more than a couple of people at a time.

Blob = What the other guys have, even if it is 3 ships. It is your moral duty to remind them of their disgusting cowardice at EVE in local chat by such comments as LOLOLOL DIRTY BLOBBERS

Small gang = What you have, no matter how many. The brave. The valiant.

My very personal opinion: more than 5 ships is a blob. But I am very special with regards to this :-)

As said blobs are everywhere.

Ill suggest NPC 0.0. Blobs will still be there, but if you dock up they normal are less bored than anywhere else and move on rather quickly.

Been living in Curse for a while, and it was actually easier to solo PVP than in low sec, and easier to find targets matching your size for a good fight.

If things have changed the past 6 months i cant say, but i enjoyed logging in every night, and eighter go solo, or join up with a few corp mates.

I solo all the time in Null sec and there are still quite a few small gang PVP corps around too. Most hang out near entrance systems and NPC Null Sec, so that's a good bet.

I don't blame you...

Blob PVP is slow, mindless, and boring at best. Lag Filled Frustration at worst.

If your actions have little to no effect on whether your fleet wins, you are not PVPing.

PVP gets fun when every decision and action you make is a "Life or Death"

Go to wh space. It is absolutely 100% the best place in this game to get true small gang PvP. Oh, and as a side benefit it'll make you absolutely rich. As in; you'll have more money than you'll know what to do with.
