Inside station lab

And it has been suggested by CCP itself.

I think this thread has some great ideas - my suggestion would be some sort of ultra-deep-space mining/research/exploration ship, able to travel great distances between systems without using a jumpgate:

- Based on a Rorqual hull;
- Can carry fighters;
- Drone bay;
- Must have a scanner fitted to scan down interstellar grav sites;
- Needs fuel that can only be found in such grav or ladar sites;
- Can act as a POS if anchored somewhere in deep space;

Most of these ideas could happen just by CCP going through with the POS interface overhaul that has been demanded by numerous CSM councils since like forever.

Maybe give an already existing capital/supercap likr a rorqual a gigantic "POS Module"-exclusive cargo bay as well.

I liked the backpack idea. A set of modules that takes up 100m3 that can be deployed by jet-canning it. Each one does something like a station but in a limited fashion. They die like wrecks if they are left in space for too long.
1. Repair
2. Fitting
3. Refining
4. One factory slot (would have to be for something quick to build like ammo, etc...)
5. etc...

You, or your team of guys can put one in your ship and deploy it like a tent/temporary mobile base of operations. When you are done, you scoop it back up into your cargohold and move on.

Of course, she would likely become the biggest ship flying, easily 20km at her beam.

You understand that beam is width right?

I haven't got enough experience of Capital ships to have an opinion on the nuts and bolts of implementing this idea but I am generally in support of this.

Perhaps we should introduce a ships which can serve as a mobile clone bay/ship hangar without the huge skill requirement or the industrial/combat leaning of the titan and rorqual?

Having a mobile base of operations would still be invaluable to pirates and nomads alike, even if it isn't particularly awesome at anything.

Your thoughts?

new devblog: mining frigate and yield changes

Why do I post it in here?
It might be interesting to the industrialists due to changes in mining barges.

It might turn out good or bad deepending if CCP listens to the players or just goes its way to ensure that the player live as CCP expects them to

After reading through this, I really like the ideas people have suggested. If people have read through the deep space thread (it's somewhere in F&I) the two could really go hand in hand.

My end goal in EVE Is to be a complete nomad
Too bad it's hard to do without Titans, Support Fleets and a shitton of ISK and people

mobile poses would go a long way to it.

yes, I hope that it does get implemented in an interesting way!

Say a POS ship, similar to freighters & jump freighters.
It would also be fun to be able to activate them within a station,
similar to the one Charon mentioned by CCP itself

I'm looking forward to see more details on how CCP is going to take care of POSs.

Being able to scale from individual to alliance use ... sounds promissing

I've always enjoyed a nomadic life.
And a capital ship to support this would be so much fun.
My thoughts
-titan sized
-limited defense(not able to fit large guns but enough smaller guns to defend)
-limited refining and manufacturing abilities( not better then station refine or manufacture)
-corp and alliance Hanger and cargo space.
-able to manufacture cruiser size and below and not to much manufacture slots.

I wouldn't go as far as making it as effective as a pos. So no bpo research.
You give it alot of HP so it's hard to kill but verrry limited offensive abilities
That way it will rely on the nomadic ppl living within to support it's defense.
you make it large enough to support a small alliance. That way if the alliance gets to big you start running 2 of these bad boys.

Edit: +1
And on the space whale.
I'd rather see a type of rouge drone. Non hostile. Acts like you guys say move in herds when attacked leave area. Make them need to be scanned down.

CCP mentioned something similar ...
a POS with jump drive (so no pilot required)
That would also include bpo research, which I would like Cool

IM not 100% against no bpo research. just don't want it to make pos worthless that why I mentioned it.
And I would rather see more of a ship. But that's just me.

A nomadic group has freedom to go where they will, not following established routes.

... star gates in Eve terms, are established routes.

A nomadic group tend to carry all their possession with them.

... in eve terms, capital ships.

Proposal:

Capital module : Jump Portal Anchor Generator

Function: Drop a semi permanent (8-24hours) jump portal in space, subject to probing. T1 version is visible on overview, and T2 version is not.

Timer tag is visible per anchor, along with owning corp. (Footprint)

Does not use a cynosural generator.

Anchor is destructible, but requires sufficient dps. (Nomads who want to erase footprint will need to stay and destroy them.)
