Yes. Right click.

You will find that right-click "context menus" are all over the place.

Basically you have a choice of sorted or some random order.

You can use containers to help organize stuff. I like using General Freight Containers as they can be moved by a contract to a freighter. Station Warehouses are also handy for that big pile of junk at home base, though they are not as cheap, and can't be moved.

Containers will help you sort stuff in a station, but keep in mind that you cannot use the Assets window to search inside containers. You can also use a 3rd party tool like EVEHQ to manage your inventory outside the game.

Put your inventory in list mode and add a column for every criterion you think is important. Slot, module type, etc. Then click the tab at the top of that column to put your stuff in ascending or descending order by that criterion. Easy enough to find anything pretty fast that way.

At each home base, I set up a series of Station Warehouses called:

  1. T1 Modules
  2. T2 Modules & Other - all my good stuff inc. faction, etc.
  3. General - Keys, Mission items, junk, All the people in my neighbourhood, tags, trade goods, unresearched blueprints, etc.
  4. Researched Blueprints
  5. Materials - Ore, minerals, drone poo, scrap metal, etc.

This set up works for me quite nicely. When I move base, I just leave the station warehouses behind and build another 5 of them at my new home.

Confirmed at fanfest. Maybe not in inferno but they are working on updating the user interface and they showed a still of a new and improved assets window. Work in progress. You cant sort it that way now but possibly in the near future.
